Geoff Brown on his way to a fine A grade win with 40 points.

Seven hardy Mansfield Vets teed off in the misty, cold conditions in Wodonga yesterday and negotiated a very muddy course. All bunkers were declared GUR which removed one set of hazards from play.

However, the fairways themselves were a challenge, with feet sliding in the slosh and balls plugging in the middle. Despite the conditions, we posted one good and one outstanding score.

Bill Taylor took third place in his division with a very good 33 points under the circumstances.

But, the star of the day was our own Northeast Vets delegate, Geoff “Browndog” Brown, who won A grade with an excellent 40 points. Playing with Paul Norris and Martin Slack, and needing pharmaceutical help to clear the self-inflicted pain from the previous evening, Geoff hit every fairway and chipped and putted outstandingly. All he needed was the incentive of a private game against his hapless Mansfield playing partners to get his competitive juices going.

Paul Norris sends another one straight down the middle.

Thankfully, Paul kept him honest by winning the final hole with a solid 3 pointer.
