Mansfield Golf Club was represented by eleven members at Jubilee on Monday 27th August. Three ladies and eight blokes travelled over to test themselves on the very trying Jubilee course. Five members came home with prizes, with the best being Sue Parsons who won the ladies event with 34 points. Ray Findlay was runner up in C grade with 36 points and Perrin Gooding was one shot behind him in third place with 35 points.
Linda Terry won the nearest to the pin on the downhill 8th as did John McCombe for the men on the 13th hole. Geoff Brown won the putting competition with an outstanding 41 putts, and had no idea where they were going.
A good day was had by all, but overall the course won easily against the majority of players, with a lot of scores in the twenties, despite great weather and a course with plenty of run.
Jubilee was the first round of the North East championships and the second round will be at Howlong next month. Entry form is on the notice board. Mansfield’s Vets day will be on Monday 29th Ocotber.
