  • MENS GOLF FOR WEEK ENDING DECEMBER 3RD 2023

Another big week with once again some questionable weather conditions playing havoc with the monthly medal on Saturday.

On Tuesday 19 played in a stableford competition with Brad Jones coming out on top with a score of 36 points with Ian Jones coming in second with 35 points and Steven McMahon finishing third with 34 points.

On Thursday another great field of 77 playing in the weekly stableford round. Some great scores were returned with some familiar faces at the top of the leaders board and one making a welcome return to competitive golf.

Alan Eustace winner of the monthly medal

    3rd: Ray Findlay 35 points (h/c 22)

Well done to the evergreen Peter Vallance on his win in A grade with Shaun Wade continuing his great form of late. Aaron’s round will mean a drop in his handicap of a couple of stroke when he next plays and it’s great to see Malcolm Kinloch back playing on Thursday mornings after a long break.

On Saturday the monthly medal for November was played after having to be postponed last week due to thunderstorms. 38 members played, those who played early had the better of the conditions as once again a thunderstorm disrupted play for about 3/4 of an hour and the downpour made for some interesting conditions once play resumed.

The winner of the medal was Alan Eustace with a nett score of 69 from Mark Jones on 70 beating Shaun Wade on a countback. Both Alan and Mark started early and finished before the storm. Being able to finish the event was a tribute to the condition of the course. A big thank you to Delatite Dental for their sponsorship of the medal.

The final of the Mansfield Golf League will be played on Thursday with the Droogs playing the Weapons of Grass Destruction, the final will be followed by the annual presentation dinner with the best player award being presented.
