  • MENS GOLF FOR THE W/E 17TH DEC 2023

    Once again a terrific week for golf that was highlighted by large numbers again. On Saturday the December monthly medal was played with Aaron Roberts coming out on top with a great score of minus 3. More about that a little later.

    On Tuesday 17 played in a par competition with Brenda Egan having a great round of +7 off a handicap of 14 winning from Phil Conway on +2 with Geoff Brown coming in third with a score of 0. Louie must have played some outstanding golf as his score was 7 better than his handicap which was 14, which by Saturday had dropped to 12.

    On Thursday a field of 66 played in the weekly stableford competition with once again some terrific scores being registered. With a field of that size there were 2 divisions;

    A Grade

    Geoff Brown on his way to winning A Grade on Thursday

    1st: Geoff Brown 39 points (h/c 9) on a countback

    2nd: Maurice Walsh 39 points (h/c 10)

    3rd: Philip Reid 38 points (h/c 15) on a countback

    B Grade

    1st: Zac Tanner 43 points (h/c 23)

    2nd: Trent Berry 42 points (h/c 30)

    3rd: Jack Marks 41 points (h/c 33)

    The 3 place getters in B Grade all had great rounds playing well above their handicaps. Geoff Brown continued the great form from earlier in the week, with Maurice as usual playing very steady golf and great to see our Golf Operations Manager Phil Reid making it into the place getters.

    On Saturday saw one of the largest fields in a long time compete for the monthly medal with a field of 48 greeting the starter. As mentioned earlier Aaron Roberts had a great round to come in with a nett score of 68 thus winning the monthly medal for December. With the large field there were once again 2 divisions;

    A Grade

    1st: Alan Parrott 70 Nett (h/c 15) on a countback

    2nd: Joel Sanford 70 nett (h/c 13)

    3rd; Brad Grant 72 nett (h/c 10)

    B Grade

    1st: Aaron Roberts 68 nett (h/c 20)

    2nd: Zac Tanner 71 nett (h/c 21)

    3rd: Paul Richardson 72 nett (h/c 19) on a countback

    Well done to all the place getters, who all seemed to play some pretty consistent golf, with a special mention to Zac Tanner whose handicap came down 2 strokes after his great round on Thursday.

    This Thursday there will be a Pinehurst competition which will be the last Thursday comp before Christmas, anyone who wants to enter should contact the pro shop before Wednesday evening so that the draw can be made for partners. The competition will be a shot gun start at 1 pm.
