• Mansfield Ladies Golf Report 19th July

  • The ladies started their golfing week with 9 holes of stroke on Tuesday played by 9 ladies. Division 1 was won by Linda Brook with nett 38 – clearly those new clubs are starting to hit their mark Linda! Runner up was Louise Calvert-Jones with nett 40. For Div 2, Marion Sargeant took the winnings with nett 43 from Belinda Thomas nett 46. Great to see you out there Belinda!
On Wednesday it was a beautiful sunny day and 21 ladies headed out for a stableford round. Robyn Baker was the best on the day with 29 points to win the day and Div 1. Runner up in Div 1 was Donna Sedgman with 28 points. In Div 2, we welcomed back Mandy Fish and she shone on the day to win with nett 29 on a countback to Patsy Smiles. Balls went down the line to 24 points – the low scores a reflection unfortunately of the heavy going! The best score on holes 13-18 was shared between Sue Parsons and Mandy Fish.
Saturday was the rescheduled KJ Evans Foursomes event for both men and ladies pairs. This event is an honour-board event, donated by the family of the late KJ Evans who was a life member of both the Mansfield Golf Club and the NE District Golf Association for his tireless work for both entities. A good field of 8 pairs of ladies contested the trophy and the winners of this 27 hole scratch event were the combination of Gayle Wells and Sue Parsons. Well done ladies – 27 holes is no mean feat at this time of the year. A handicap comp was simultaneously run and the winners were Patsy Smiles and Glenis Skinner and runners up, the combination of Wells/Parsons.
Next Wednesdays comp is a 4BBB stableford round and Saturday is our Monthly Medal, kindly sponsored by Mansfield Newsagency. Sunday sees the playing of the Bill Reardon Match Play final.
