• Mansfield Ladies Golf Report

  • With the resumption of the monthly Veterans tournament in the North East, some of the Mansfield Ladies were delighted to head north to Howlong to kick off their golfing week on Monday. While they didn’t bring home any prizes, it was all smiles to have played a day of golf in perfect, dry, conditions and to renew friendships with those from other clubs who we hadn’t seen for such a long time. Our thanks go to Howlong, who managed the event with all the necessary Covid precautions but with a very welcoming and happy demeanour!

Back at home, Tuesday saw 9 ladies hitting the course, and Robyn Baker winning the day with 15 points for the 9-hole stableford comp. Marion Sargeant led the Div 2 group with 11 points on a countback from Louise Ramsay.

Wednesday had a great turnout of 21 players, including a couple of visitors and members who are new to our comp days which is always great to see. With the course drying out, there were some better scores coming in. Linda Brook was the standout for the day winning the day and Div 2 with 36 points. Runner up in that division was Louise Calvert-Jones with a very nice 34 points. In Div 1, Linda Terry took the prize money with 30 points on a count-back to runner up, Millie Cumming. Balls went down the line to 26 points. Louise Calvert-Jones took the prize for the best score on holes 13-18.

A chilly Saturday saw 10 ladies braving the conditions and the winner was Sue Parsons with 30 points from Linda Brook 29. Balls went to Glenis Skinner 28, Shelly Comerford and Patsy Smiles 27 and Millie Cumming 26.

Next Wednesday is a stroke round and the last round of our Silver Spoon qualifiers and the 3rd round of our Vets (Winter Block) round. Andy is kindly doing a lamb roast for lunch for us, as this will be our final post-golf sit down together, until after the clubhouse redevelopment is complete.
