    Ladies GPL Finalists for 2020

This week saw the final of the ladies Premier League being contested after our biggest season yet for this form of golf competition. With 10 teams of 3 registered, the initial round- robins have run right through from late September and have achieved the desired aim, of encouraging as many players as possible to turn up each week to support their team and help add to their score. After the top 4 teams played off in last week’s semi-finals it was the Par Tee Girls team of Patsy Smiles, Sue Crow and Marg Knapp who faced off against The Oompa Loompas team of Andrea Marsden, Gayle Wells and Wendy Hunt in this week’s final. With the top 2 scores of each team counting, it was the Par Tee Girls who ran out strong victors in the end, with 66 points, versus the Oompa Loompas 57points. Congratulations to Patsy, Sue and Marg and we look forward to the Brownlow-style countdown of the player of the season at this week’s Christmas break up.

For the regular golf, we had 8 ladies play on Tuesday, with Jenny Koraus once again in the winner’s circle taking the win with 17 points.

Wednesday was our Summer Cup round, and there were 27 players.
It was a good day for Linda’s with the Winner of Div 1, Linda Terry with 35 points, with Lyn Poulson runner up with 34 points. In Div 2, the winner was the other Linda, Linda Brook with 37 points on a countback from Lorraine Cullen. Line balls went to Sue Crow, Marg Knapp and Donna Sedgman with 33 points, Shelly Comerford and Glenis Skinner with 32 points, Andrea Marsden, Millie Cumming and Shirley Nolan each 31 points. Lorraine Cullen won the best score on the par 3’s and also on the odd holes.

On Thursday for the George Walker 9 holes, it was Lesley Anderson and Anne Watkins who both won their respective divisions, each with 16 points.

Finally on Saturday, 14 ladies played a stableford round and the winner with a lovely 39 points was Sheryl Sargent. Second was Louise Calvert-Jones with 32 and 3rd Marion Mitchell, also with 32. Line balls went down the line to 28 points.

This week sees the ladies having their traditional fun day for Christmas, playing 14 holes of Pinehurst Foursomes with a bit of a twist and everyone is encouraged to dress up themselves and their gear in a Christmas theme. Golf will be followed by a smorgasbord lunch, the Premier League Presentations, a review of our rather crazy year, and a lot of laughs.
