    Ladies at Clubhouse Opening

Lady golfers Linda Terry, Sheryl Sargent and Sue Parsons join Cindy McLeish MP at the opening of the Clubhouse redevelopment.

It was a special week for Mansfield Golf Club last week as the recently renovated clubhouse was officially opened by Cindy McLeish. A number of our lady golfers were in attendance in various capacities, and enjoyed the delicious meal presented by chef Marcus Van Clute. The outlook over the practice fairway is a wonderful setting and the lighting on the trees completed just that day, by Craig Walsh and Cooksey was a great final touch – thanks team! Local Member and Deputy Premier, Cindy McLeish carried out the official opening and as a golfer herself and member of Golf Victoria board, she spoke enthusiastically of the great future for our club and the golfing community in particular.

As for the golf, we kicked off the week with yet another fine round of pennant. Our Div 1 team had a win at home against Thurgoona which leaves both these teams equal on top of the ladder with 2 rounds to go. Div 2 had a great result to square against Wangaratta on their home turf and our team is clear on top of their ladder. Div 4 sadly went down to Commercial Albury but are sitting 3rd on the ladder and still with a chance of making the finals. Great effort girls.

    Sunrise

An early start for ladies pennant saw a beautiful sunrise over the practice fairway

On Tuesday we had 6 players and Shelly Comerford took the win with 16 points for the 9 holes, on a countback to Lorraine Wilson. Thursdays 9 hole also with 6 players saw Jenny Koraus score a very nice 19 points with Anne Tilbrook runner up with 18 points.

Our 18 hole competition on Wednesday was a Par round – not everyone’s favourite, but some great scores were returned nonetheless. Sheryl Sargent had a day out to win the day and Div 1 with +5 and Linda Terry was runner up with +3. In Div 2, Lorraine Cullen grabbed the win with +2 on a countback from runner up Pam Abbott. Line balls went to Nicki Cooper and Lyn Poulson both +2, Donna Sedgman and Millie Cumming both square, Sam Bailey and Andrea Marsden -1 and Lorraine Wilson -2.  Nearest the pins went to Sue Kinloch on the 3rd, Sheryl Sargent on the 7th and Nicki Cooper on the 16th.
