• Ladies Golf Report week ending 30th May 21

  • Good Results from our Lady Golfers at Home and Away

The recent rain has been fabulous for our course and the fairways are really greening up after fairly dry autumn. With sunny days forecasted, it was looking like some great golfing conditions ahead for this last week, but sadly, we only got as far as Thursday before the latest Covid lockdown hit!

Nevertheless, there are still achievements to be reported! 8 girls hit the fairways for 9 holes of stroke play on Tuesday. Winners were Sue Parson with nett 38 for Div 1 and Robyn Bridgewater continues her good form to win Div 2 with nett 39. Well done ladies.

On Wednesday it was time to have a go at playing off the gold tees. This shorter course, gives a new perspective to each hole, off much lower handicaps than we are used to. Rising to the challenge, was Jackie Smithwick who took the win with 35 points from Millie Cumming with 34 points on a countback. Lineballs went to Sam Bailey 34, Lesley Anderson 33, Linda Brook 31, Nicki Cooper 30, Sue Crow 30 and Shelly Comerford 29. Nearest the pin on the 3rd went to Linda Terry, Millie Cumming had the closest 2nd shot on the 9th as well as sharing the hidden holes with Sue Crow.

Our golfing week ended on Thursday when six of the girls played in the Strathbogie Bowl. Their course was in picture perfect condition and it is always a pleasure to play and to support this volunteer-run club. It also happened to bring out some great golf from our Ladies Captain, who finally got her drive going straight again and topped the field with a stableford score of 41! That gave Linda Terry the win for A Grade as well as a nearest the pin, while Lyn Poulson also had a great day out to win B Grade with 38 points. Topping it off was the trio of Linda, Lyn and Marion Mitchell, winning the small teams prize. Worthy of mention, was Dulcie Donaghy, who was very unlucky to be pipped for the C Grade with her 38 points. Unfortunately, we also missed out on winning the Bowl by just one point, but we can’t be greedy! Thanks to Strathbogie for putting on such a lovely day of golf.
