  • Mansfield Ladies Shine in NE Vets

Our ladies golfing week kicked off with 9 of our ladies representing Mansfield at the monthly NE Vets competition, this month held at the lovely Bright course. The Mansfield girls were once again in fine form and the winner on the day and of A Grade, was our own Sue Crow with 34 points. Wendy Hunt was Runner-up of B Grade with 33 points and Susan Kinloch was 3rd in B Grade. Our girls also featured in the team’s event, with Lyn Poulson, Wendy Hunt and Jenny Koraus combining with Nancy Duursma of Rutherglen to win that event. Finally, Robyn Baker picked up a nearest the pin.

On Tuesday, the 9 hole competition saw Barbara Crawford win Div 1 and Lorraine Wilson win Div 2.

Wednesdays 18 hole comp was our February Monthly Medal, kindly sponsored by Sanae’s Collections and a great field of 27 turned out for it. Some great scores were achieved but none better than overall winner of the Medal, Glenis Skinner with nett 69. Runner up was Linda Terry 72. Div 2 was won by Shelly Comerford, 74 and runner up Shirley Nolan 75. Line balls went to Sheryl Sargent, Sue Parson, Andrea Marsden, Christine Fraser all nett 73, and Lesley Anderson 75. Shirley Nolan had the nearest the pin on the 3rd and Lyn Poulson on the 7th. The Hidden Holes win was shared between Shelly, Shirley and Glenis.

Thursday was our regular 9 hole George Walker round, contested by just 4 players, won by Jenny Koraus with 17 points.

Finally, on Saturday another small field – perhaps due to the impending Hospital fundraiser the next day – was won by Millie Cumming with nett 76.

After missing out on pennant last year, all the girls are excited at the prospect of starting their 2021 pennant season this week. The first round will see Div 1 playing against Yarrawonga at Thurgoona, Div 2 playing Bright at Yarrawonga and Div 4 playing Corowa at Commercial Albury. Good luck to all.
