  • Great Golfing by Ladies

What a beautiful week for golf!  Our 9-hole ladies kicked off the week on Tuesday with stableford and it was lovely to see relatively newbie, Kerri Nicol, win the day with 16 points! Then on Wednesday, 26 ladies took to the course for stableford and their Mansfield Golf League round 7.  Winner of A grade and the day was Andrea Marsden with 36 points from Sheryl Sargent 35. B Grade was won by Sue Wilson with 33 from Lesley Anderson 30. Line balls went to Nicki Cooper 34, Marg Knapp 32, Millie Cumming 32, Sam Bailey 32, Gayle Wells, Donna Sedgman and Patsy Smiles all 31. Nearest the pins went to Sam on the 3rd, Sheryl on the 7th, Shelly Comerford on the 16th and Sheryl also had the best 3rd shot on the 18th. Lorraine Cullen won the chipping contest. For the league, the winning teams were The Delta Divas who are now top of the ladder, closely followed by other winners The Vaccinated; The ParTee Girls also had a win and are 3rd on the ladder, while Here’s Hoping dropped down the ladder after losing due to not fielding a full team! The Long shots and The 70+ Ladies also had wins.

On Thursdays, ladies are reminded that our George Walker 9 hole competition has commenced for summer and are encouraged to get out there and have a game. This week just 3 players had a go with Sue Parsons the clear winner with 22 points.

On Friday we hosted summer pennant and came out with a clean sweep against Myrtleford, winning 3 matches to zero. Next week will see us playing at Jubilee for the final round of our shortened season before finals.

On Saturday, a good field of 15 played stroke (with the exception of our Captain who thought she was playing stableford and was disqualified!). Winner with nett 69 was once again Sue Parsons, who seems to have had a great return to form in the last couple of weeks! Runner up was Millie Cumming with nett 72. Line balls went to Marion Sargeant, Sam Bailey and Louise Calvert-Jones with nett 74 and Helen Anderson, Kylie Egan and Jenny Koraus all with nett 75. Nearest the pin on the 3rd was Kylie and Millie won the putting.

Finally, our beginner clinics are continuing very well on both Fridays and Sundays, to make our golfing week very busy. Thanks to those girls who are assisting with the clinics!
