  • Mixed Results for Ladies Pennant

Our golfing week kicked off with pennant – the second round of the NE fixture. Div 1 was once again victorious, winning at Myrtleford against the Black Bull team 4/1. Div 2 hosted at home without playing, while Div 4 were up against Wodonga at Wodonga and the very early start added to the challenge, with them sadly going down 1½ to 3½.  This week Div 1 head to Yarrawonga to take on the home team, while it’s Div 2’s turn to head up the highway to Wodonga, while Div 4 hosts at home. Good luck to all.

At home on Tuesday, 8 ladies played their nine holes off the gold tees for a change, and it must have suited Jenny Koraus who took the win with 19 points on a countback to Anne Tilbrook. Lorraine Wilson was not far behind with 18 points. Great scoring ladies.

Wednesday was a stroke round and the first qualifying round for the State event, the Silver Spoon. Coming out on top for the day and Div 1 was Sue Crow with nett 70 from Nicki Cooper on a countback. In Div 2 it was very exciting to see Mary Chiodo score a beautiful nett 71 (off handicap of 45) to take the win, again on a countback from Lyn Poulson. Welcome to the winner’s circle Mary!!

Sadly, once again Thursday saw only 2 competitors with Sam Bailey winning the 9 hole stableford with a nice round of 19 points.

Finally, on Saturday it was the Parson’s Family Day, sponsored by life members, Sue and Bill Parsons as a 4BBB event specially designed for family members. While a number of ladies were playing with sons or brothers, those pairings missed out on the spoils, with the win going to the all-male team of Ben and Keith Millott. Many thanks to Sue and Bill for their support of this event.

Our ladies competing away at the Victoria 4BBB Championship last week, had a fantastic couple of days at Sorrento and The National, but were unlucky to not be able to come away with the trophy this year. Nevertheless, we were very proud to see Mansfield represented by no less than 3 pairs at this prestigious event.
