  • Large Field for Ladies After Lockdown

The lockdown was only 5 days, but it was enough to have all the ladies desperate to get back to golf after missing their regular Wednesday comp! So it was almost a record field of 21 who turned out for our Thursday 9 hole George Walker round. Winning the day and Div 2 was Anne Tilbrook with 18 points on a countback to Pam Abbott. In Div 1 the win went to Sam Bailey with 17 from Lyn Poulson 16. Line balls went to Anne Watkins and Marion Sargeant 17,

    Marion Sargeant Putting

Marion Sargeant keeps a steady hand as she sends her putt to the 4th hole.

Jenny Koraus 16 and Wendy Hunt 15.

Saturdays Summer Cup stableford round was also well supported with 14 players. The winner was Louise Calvert-Jones with a lovely score of 38 points, while Linda Terry was runner up with 35. Balls went to 29 points and the nearest the pins went to Robyn Baker on the 3rd and Pauline Ahola on the 7th. Shelly Comerford had the best 4th shot on the par 5 5th.

This weekend sees the staging of the annual Hospital Auxillary fundraiser day with many of the golfing ladies involved in organising or helping on the day. Fingers crossed there will be no Covid hiccups, as it is such an important fundraiser for our hospital. Thanks go to all those who work so hard to bring it to fruition and to all the sponsors and supporters, not the least being our own Mansfield Golf Club who give up the course for the day.
