  • Shelly Comerford in Top Form

After looking forward to the end of restrictions last week and getting back out onto the golf course, the forecast was not good and most girls elected to stay home on Wednesday. But six hardy souls turned up with the intention of just coffee, but the skies cleared and they were rewarded in the end with a lovely day for golf!  Winner, this writer is pleased to report, was Linda Terry with 29 points on a countback to Sue Parsons.

Come Saturday, and it seemed to some that it was going to rain all day again, but once again those that turned out were treated to great conditions (as far as winter goes!). It was monthly medal and the standout winner with a lovely nett 73 was Shelly Comerford. Once again Sue Parsons was runner up, with nett 75. Line balls went to Gayle Wells, Linda Brook and Sam Bailey. Shelly also picked up a nearest the pin on the 16th and Gayle Wells won the putting with a very economical 26 putts.  Thanks to our generous sponsor this month, Mansfield Newsagency.

On Sunday, 4 of the ladies played off in the Bill Reardon Handicap Matchplay event. After getting through qualifying rounds in the monthly medals of Feb, Mar and April, the semi’s were played between Shelly Comerford and Linda Terry, and between Linda Brook and Sheryl Sargent. The winners from these pairings were the in-form Shelly Comerford 5/3 and Linda Brook 6/5. Well done ladies!  The 27-hole final between Shelly and Linda B is now scheduled for August 15.
