• Kylie Egan Qualifies for Silver Spoon for Second Time.

  • We had a good field of ten kicking off our golfing week on Tuesday for 9 holes of stableford. Winner was Marion Sargeant with a steady 18 points, followed by Glenis Skinner on 15 points for runner up.

Wednesday’s stroke round was the last opportunity to qualify for the Golf Vic event the Silver Spoon, Rain was threatened by BOM, but the 23 ladies in the field were very happy it held off until just as we got into the clubhouse.  Winner of the day and A Grade was Kylie Egan (19) with nett 76. Runner up in A Grade was Sue Parsons (20) with 77 and third, Millie Cumming (23) with 79.  In B Grade, the winner was Lesley Anderson (29) with 79, runner up Jackie Smithwick (80) and third, Susan Kinloch (45) also 80. Balls went to Gayle Wells, Marion Mitchell, Lyn Holland and Linda Terry. Kylie was therefore the qualifier for the Silver Spoon, but she had already qualified previously, so the finalists who will meet up on 31st August are Kylie, Linda Terry and Jackie Smithwick.

On Thursday, a team of 4 travelled to Commercial Albury to play in their Bowl. There was a great field of 98, and a very well run event, despite some trying conditions as waves of rain persisted in coming in, every time anyone dared to ditch their rain gear. Linda Terry was best of the Mansfield girls with 30 points and only 3 off the lead, but sadly no prizes to bring home for any of us.

It’s a foggy start to the day for Jenny Koraus and Gayle Wells, but they are still all smiles

Thick fog greeted the players on Saturday, but a fine day was promised and it did eventually deliver for the 13 ladies who ventured out for a stableford round. Winner with a nice 32 points was Sam Bailey from Sheryl Sargent 28 and Marion Sargeant 27, who pipped Millie Cumming on a countback. Millie didn’t go away empty handed however as she won the nearest the pin on the 3rd.  Jenny Koraus seems to have picked up a prize for a gobbler (in the hole from off the green)…perhaps there is a story there that needs relating?
