• Men’s Golf Report – Week ending May 21st

    Tuesday’s stableford event had a field of 27 players fronting the starter.

    The winner was Josh Green (14) with a great 41 points from Sam Sandhu (21) with 39 points. Ball rundown went to 34 points on a countback. Nearest the pins went to Josh Green on the 7th and Steve Cooksey on the 9th. The Pro pin on the 3rd went to Brad Grant. The Super Holes were won by Josh Green (Holes 1-4) and Oliver Pearson (Holes 16-18)

    The Gold Event was won by George Richardson (32) with 36 points.

    Thursday’s Stableford event attracted a field of 52 players fronting the starter. The Gold Event had six contestants.

    The Division 1 winner was Nick Siperki (14) with a score of 39 points from Taki Murakami (13) with 38 points. The winner of Division 2 was Dave “Skippa” Wilson (32) with a great score of 44 points from Peter Hunt (30) with 40 points. Ball run down went to 33 points. Nearest the Pin on the 7th was Damian Ryan, 9th was Brad Grant (A Hole in One), 12th was Laurie Harcus and the 16th Dave Octigan. Tony Crawford collected the pro pin on the 3rd, and the nearest the pin 2nd shot on 18 was won by Michael Cooksey.

    The Super Holes were won by Trevor Wright (8-11) and David Wilson (16-18). Nearest to the pin 3rd shot on 15 was Martin Slack.

    The rabbits were Alan Agar and Roger Eddy.

    The Gold Course winner was George Richardson (32) with a score of 42 points from Keith Millott (31) with 38 points                .

    Weekend Results

    Saturday saw a small field of 16 pairs contesting a 4BBB stableford event.

    The winners were Brad Grant and Sam Sandhu with 45 points on a countback from Steve Daykin and Perrin Gooding. Ball rundown went to 42 points on a countback. The nearest the pins were on the 7th Brad Grant, 9th Bryan Horskins, 12th Ross Penny and the 16th Rod Sargent. The Pro pin on the 3rd was all collected by Ken Fisher.

     

    Last Sunday saw the semi-finals of the Bill Reardon Matchplay being held. The results were Mark Jones def Brad Grant, and, Ben Millott def Rod Sargent.

    The final was held on Sunday and after a tough and marathon effort the result was Ben Millott defeated Mark Jones on the 29th hole.

    The ladies final was decided by an equally tough match between Linda Terry and Millie Cumming, with Linda holding on to become the winner 2 and 1.

     

    A quick tip for this week:

    One for all members: don’t hate par events. Par is simply matchplay against the golf course. Sure, what would be a four-pointer in Stableford only gains you one in par, but your ‘wipes’ only cost one, too. Which do you card more often, four-pointers or wipes? Think about it…
