• Men’s Golf Report – Week ending December 11th 2016

  • Now keeping it in the family – Congratulations go to Mark Pearson, for his Hole-in-One on the 16th on Saturday.

    Tuesday was a par event with a field of 31 players fronting th3 starter. Also there were two competitors in the Gold event.

    The winner was Mick Grimes (13) with plus 4 on a countback from Bob Thomson (19). Ball rundown went to plus 1.

    Nearest the pin went to Kevin Jacobs on the 7th, with Russell Breadon taking Nearest the Pin 2nd shot on the 18th.  The Pro pin on the 3rd went to Sam Sandhu, whilst Michael Davis collected the Best Score, holes 3 – 8. 2’s on Par 3’s went to Brendan Egan, Nick Siperki and Michael Davis.

    The winner of the Gold Course was Brian Curtis (27) with plus 5.

     

     

    The daylight saving Wednesday 9 hole competition is still running with 20 golfers attending for a Stableford event on the back nine. The winner was Oliver Shaw with 21 points on a countback from Aaron Anstee.

     

    On Thursday we had a good field of 49 participants front the starter for the regular Stableford event, and also 3 participants in the Gold Event.

    BUT………owing to the rather inclement conditions, only 21 hardy souls completed the day!

    The winner of Division 1 was Steve McMahon (5) with an excellent score of 42 points, with Robert Fankhauser (13) being the runner up with 41 points.

    The winner of Division 2 was Russell Breadon (22) with 40 points on a countback from Perrin Gooding (23).

    Ball run down went to 29 points. Nearest the on the 7th was Steve McMahon, 9th was Fred Rogers. Tony Pridham took out the pro pin on the 3rd. 2’s on Par 3’s went Mark Bettany and Steve McMahon.

    The Gold Course was won by Peter Healy (30) with 39 points.

     

    Saturday saw a Stableford event being contested with the fine weather now upon us, we had a field of 43 contestants.

    The winner of Division 1 was Mark Pearson (12) with a fantastic 47 points. This was a round of 71 off the stick, well done Mark!

    Runner up also with a great score was Rod Sargent (6) with 42 points. Division 2 was won by Peter Dolling (21) with 37 points from Laurie Harcus (20) with 36 points. Ball Rundown went to 36 points on a countback.

    Nearest the pins were on the 7th & 9th Kane Blunt, 12th Tony Pridham and the 16th Mark Pearson – Hole In One! Nearest the Pin 2nd shot on the 18th was Steve Daykin and on the 10th was Michael Harrison. The Pro Pin went to Robert Healy and Hidden Holes to Mark Pearson. The Birdie hole was the 17th with 5 players receiving prizes.

     

    Sunday saw final of the Golf Premier League being contested over the Front nine. The winning team was out of Augusta National vs Olympic Club. The Golf Brownlow for the best player was won by Paul Richardson.

    The individual scores for the day were:

    Paul Richardson (18) with 22 points from Oliver Pearson (4) on a countback. Ball rundown went to 20 points.

     

    The “Monday Skins” also had their presentation day, with Dave (Skipper) Wilson taking out the prestigious honour of the Skinslow Medal.

     

    A quick tip for this week:

    Relax – Loosen your death grip on your club. You want to hold the club securely without squeezing too tightly. You also want to keep your body relaxed and not rigid.
