• Men’s Golf Report – Week ending April 30th

  • Congratulations to Brad Grant on winning the April Monthly Medal on Saturday.

A quick quote for this week-

‘I went to play golf and tried to shoot my age, but I shot my weight instead’.  – Bob Hope.

    Weekend Results

Saturday saw the April Monthly Medal sponsored by the “Goughs Bay Golfers” golfers being contested.

With a field of only 37 players competing owing to the footy being played at home, once again some fantastic scores have been returned.

The winner of the medal was (El Capitano) Brad Grant with a fine nett 67 and the runner up was Mark (Funky) Jones with a good score of nett 70.

Ball rundown went nett 75 on a countback. Nearest the pins were on the 7th Bob Cullen, 9th Michael Cooksey, 12th Mark Jones and the 16th Oliver Pearson. The Pro Pin on the 3rd was won by Perrin Gooding and Bob Cullen took out 2nd shot on the eighteenth hole. The Super Holes were won by Mark Jones and Greg Millott. Rod Sargent took out the JD Perks scratch for April.

On Sunday the Men’s Scratch Pennant team competed in the semi-final and unfortunately lost 3 and 2 to Yarrawonga (1). Whilst the Handicap Pennant team had a win against Wodonga at Rutherglen 3 and 2. This now puts them into the final against their arch rivals Tarrawingee. Good Luck to the team next Sunday at Black Bull.

A quick tip for this week: Full Finish

After hitting the ball, you want to make sure to swing through to a full finish. In a good finish position, you should have all your weight on your front foot and your chest should face the target. To develop good balance, try swinging to this position and holding the finish for three seconds.
