• Men’s Golf Report – Week Ending 3rd March 2019

  • Hot scores still the name of the game

    Tuesday had 33 players contesting a stroke event.
    The winner was Adrian Lewis (33) with a great nett 67 from Peter Baddeley (15) with a fine nett 69.
    Ball rundown went to nett 73 on a countback. Nearest the Pin on the third and sixteenth was Jarrod Heath. The NTP second shot on the eighteenth was Brad Grant with the best score on holes 13-18 being Blair St Anne.

    Wednesday’s daylight saving event was a stableford Multiplier competition with 26 players competing. The winner was Alex Stephens with 45 points from Steve Daykin with 42 points.

    Thursday’s event saw a field of 68 golfing fanatics fronting the starter for the regular Stableford event with some fantastic scores being returned. There were four players contesting the Gold event.

    The winner of Division One was Brad Grant (11) with a great score of 43 points from Adam Holt (15) with a good 42 points.
    The winner of Division Two was Warren Shepherd (36) with an impressive 38 points from Rob Purcell (22) on a countback.
    Ball run down went 36 points on a countback. Nearest the pins were Phil Corr on the third, Sam Sandhu on the seventh, Roger Eddy on the ninth, Rob Purcell on the twelfth and Peter Morgan on the sixteenth. Nearest the pin second shot on the eighteenth was collected by Shaun Wade, whilst Blair St Anne was NTP second shot on the first. Adrian Smith played a great shot to collect the NTP second shot on the seventeenth. The best score on the par threes was shared between Perrin Gooding, Adam Holt and Warren Shepherd.
    The Gold event winner was Geoff Lowry (31) with 46 points.
    There were two rabbits for the day, being Steve Chisholm and Geoff Brown.

    Saturday’s event was a Par competition with 31 players out and about.
    The winner was Sam Sandhu (19) with a tremendous score of plus 10 from Steve McMahon (6) with plus 6 (parred the course again!).
    Ball run down went to plus 1 on a countback. Nearest the pins were Martin Lloyd on the third, Brendon Smith on the seventh, and Mark Jones on the sixteenth. The second shot on the eighteenth was also collected by Mark Jones. The encouragement award from the golf shop went to Perrin Gooding.

    On Sunday, the members of the YSM Summer Pennant team journeyed to Cobram Barooga for the final against Yarrawonga. However their trip was not a successful one, in that they lost 4/1 very gallantly. All matches had their chance to win. Thanks to all the supporters and especially the bus driver. Thanks Clive!
