    Hot scores still the name of the game

    On Tuesday we had 24 players contesting a stableford event.
    The winner was Nick Siperki (15) with a great 42 points from Paul Norris (23) with 40 points. Ball rundown went to 34 points on a countback. Nearest the Pin on the third was Brad Grant and on the ninth was Shane O’Brien. The NTP second shot on the eighteenth was Peter Baddeley, with the best score on the par fours being Geoff Brown.

    Wednesday’s daylight saving event was a stroke event with 25 players competing. The winner was Jeremy Veneman with a nett 29 from Steve Chisholm with a nett 33.

    Thursday’s event saw a field of 69 golfing enthusiasts fronting the starter for the regular Stableford event with some great scores being returned. There were two players contesting the Gold event.
    The winner of Division One was Fred Rogers (15) with 39 points on a countback from Dave Octigan (12).
    The winner of Division Two was John Hayes (36) with an impressive 41 points from Bill Taylor (24) with 40 points.
    Ball run down went 36 points on a countback. Nearest the pins were Trevor Wright on the third, Rob Fankhauser on the seventh, John Gilson on the ninth, Trevor West on the twelfth and the sixteenth. Nearest the pin second shot on the eighteenth was collected by Adam Holt. The nearest the pin third shot on the fourth was Rod Sargent, and on the fifteenth was Blair St Anne. The best score on the par threes and par fives was John Gilson.
    The Gold event winner was Geoff Lowry (30) with an enormous 56 points.
    There were two rabbits for the day, being Ray Findlay and Bill Parsons.

    Saturday’s event was a stroke competition for the March Monthly Medal.
    The winner of Division One and the medal was Phil Conway (13) with a nett 69 from Bob Cullen (14) with a nett 70.
    The winner of Division Two was Trevor Wright (19) with a nett 71 on a countback from Graham Mear (18). Ball run down went to nett 75 on a countback. Nearest the pins were Matthew Wood on the third, Glenn Douglas on the seventh, Adam Holt on the ninth, Kane Blunt on the twelfth and Steve McMahon on the sixteenth. The NTP second shot on the seventeenth was Rod Sargent, and on the eighteenth was Steve McMahon. The best score on holes 1-6 was shared by eight players! The JD Perks best scratch score went to Mark Jones with a 77 gross.
    Also on Saturday the final of the J. Nolan 4BBB matchplay was contested. It resulted in a 1up victory to Peter Sargent and Robin Pratt over Brad Grant and Graham Mear.
    On Sunday, the pennant teams were again in battle. The scratch team played against Wodonga at home and lost 3/2. A big thank you to Dave O, Adam H, Sam S and Bob S for the cooking of the B-B-Q.
    The handicap team ventured to Wangaratta to play Benalla and won 5/0.

    Also held was the final of the Sunday League. The winning team of Craig Walsh, Steve Shinns, Ben Martin and Tony Cooksey defeated the Royal St Georges comprising Rod and Sheryl Sargent and Sue and Bill Parsons.
