• Men’s Golf Report Week Ending 31st January 2021

  • And yet another Hole-in-One was scored this week. Congratulations to octogenarian Bill Parsons on his feat on the sixteenth hole on Thursday.
    The Midweek Results

    Tuesday’s indifferent weather brought out 23 players to contest a stableford competition.
    The winner was Brendan Egan (16) with 38 points on a countback form Mark Jones (3) also with 38 points. Third place went to Tim Symes (6) with 35 points.
    Line balls 29 points on a countback.

    Thursday’s event saw a great field of 71 golfing enthusiasts fronting the starter for the regular Stableford event with some excellent scores being returned, and four competitors in the Gold event.
    The winner of Division One was Maurie Walsh (8) with 39 points from Phil Conway (8) with 37 points.
    The winner of Division Two was Nick Jones (19) with 37 points from Greg Johnstone (15) with 36 points.
    The winner of Division Three and score of the day was Tom Nicol (27) with a fantastic 44 points from Tom Swan (23) with 35 points.
    Ball run down (17 of them) went down to 33 points on a countback.
    The best score on holes 13 thru 18 was Tom Nicol. The nearest the pins on the par threes were Mic Davis on the third, Jarrod Heath on the seventh and the ninth, John Saggers on the twelfth and Bill; Parsons on the sixteenth with his hole-in-one. Nearest the pin second shot on the eighteenth was Tony Tehan.
    The winner of the Gold Event was Tony Froud (19) with 40 points.
    There were two rabbits for the day, being Gary Johnson and Adrian Smith.

    The weekend results

    Saturday’s event was the January Monthly Medal sponsored by Alliance Insurance with 63 competitors in the field.
    The winner of Division One was Rod Sargent (2) with a nett 70 from Craig Walsh (5) with a nett 71 from third placed Dave Octigan (9) with a nett 71 on a countback.
    The Division Two and Monthly Medal winner and best score of the day went to Paul Richardson (18) with a nett 69. Second place was taken out by James Calvert-Jones (23) with a nett 71 on a countback from third placed John Koraus (13) also with nett 71.
    Ball run down went to nett 77. The nearest the pins were on the third Kane Blunt, on the seventh Alex Scherini, on the ninth Tony Crawford, on the twelfth Brad Grant and on the sixteenth was Mark Pearson. Ross Penny was nearest the pin second shot on the eighteenth. The hidden holes were taken out by John Koraus. The NTP second shots on the seventeenth were Dan Robertson (+3-18) and Daryl Horwood (19-36).
    The JD Perks best scratch of the day went to Rod Sargent with a 72 gross.
