• Men’s Golf report week ending 2nd Jan. 2022

  • New Year Golf commences with outstanding scores.

It seems a few short days ago that we were wishing each other a Merry Xmas.

Now here we are into 2022, hence we wish everyone the best for the year ahead.

The course is standing up well in these hotter summer conditions and the high number of players, both club members and visitors.

Jack Hutchins on the 18th Tee on his way to a record breaking personal score.

    Results for the past week.

Tuesday, a good field of 47 contestants in a Stableford event.

    The Major winners in order.

Div 1 – Domingo Diaz 39 pts. Jarrod Heath 38 C/B from Maurie Walsh.

Div 2 – Adrian Smith 39 pts, Charlie Heath 36 C/B from Chris Kerr.

    Thursday’s Stableford results,

A great field of 71 players in 4 divisions.

A Grade – Blair St. Anne 42 pts. Rod Sargent 41 pts.

B Grade – Jarrod Heath 38 pts, Nathan Griffiths 37 pts.

    C Grade – Glen Douglas 40 pts, Rob Fankhauser 38 pts C/B

    D Grade – Bill Moran 39 pts, Fletcher Cooper 36 pts C/B

Some of the highlights of the day came in A Grade where Blair had an amazing round playing off 6. Rod was pipped on the post for the second week in a row. His round of 41 pts playing off scratch was exemplary. This equates to -5 off the stick, the handicapper took exception to this score, Rod is now +1 a reward for his commitment to practice and dedication.

Special mentions to Jarrod Heath for cleaning up the field twice this week and losing a shot, now playing off single figures, well done.

Fletcher Cooper light continues to shine.  He has dropped his handicap from 29 a few months ago to 20 this week an objective he has pursued relentlessly, single figures are within reach of this fine young man.

Nearest the pins in order – Rob Fankhauser, Alex Sherini, Blair St Anne, Mitchell Brown, Mark Jones and Mark Korda.

Saturday, New Year’s Day saw a small field of 27 players line up in a Stableford event.

Ian Jones triumphed with an outstanding score of 43 pts (H/C 24), runner up with another fine performance having already lost a shot earlier in the week was Blair St Anne 38pts C/B from Steve Daykin.

Jarrod Heath, another fine game was accompanied by Mark Jones and Alex Scherini filling the minor placings.

Nearest the pins, again, in order – Alex Sherini, Russell Loughridge, Mitchel Brown, Alex Scherini, Nick Siperki and Russell Loughridge again.

Some interesting notes from this week.

Alex Scherini is rapidly becoming a par 3 specialist, winning 3 times this week.

Russell Loughridge a visitor from Garfield golf club, Garfield is a small town south of Melbourne wedged between Packenham and Langwarry, not only did Russell have two NTP’s but his playing partners stated that he is probably the longest hitter that they have seen, a big accolade as we have the likes BK, Kyle, Funky, Jack H and Rod. His brother is a Buller identity, Darren (Dazza).

Thursday visitor Mitchell Brown is obviously a very handy player from Kew, playing off +2 and scoring 35 pts.

Reminder:- nominations for the Neeley and Nolan events close 9/01.

George Walker Memorial event will continue on Thursdays.

This is a Stableford Honour Board event with cumulative results during daylight saving months.

    Stay well, stay happy,
