• Men’s Golf Report Week Ending 28th March 2021

    The Midweek Results

    Tuesday’s indifferent weather encouraged only four players to contest a stableford competition.
    The winner was Mark Jones (2) with 37 points from Dan Robertson (+3) with 33 points.

    Thursday’s event saw a field of 47 golfing enthusiasts fronting the starter for the regular Stableford event with some excellent scores being returned, and eight competitors in the Gold event.
    The winner of Division One was Rob Fankhauser (12) with 40 points from Greg Johnstone (16) with 36 points.
    The winner of Division Two was Dave McKenzie (29) with the score of the day 42 points from Ian Jones (28) with 41 points.
    Ball run down went down to 33 points on a countback.
    The nearest the pins on the par threes were Martin Slack on the third, Ian Jones on the seventh, Greg Johnstone on the ninth, Don Clutterbuck on the twelfth and Daryl Horwood on the. Nearest the pin second shot on the eighteenth was Don Clutterbuck.
    The NTP third shot on the second was Brad Grant, the NTP third shot on the tenth was Dale Daly and the NTP second shot on the seventeenth was Dave Smithwick.
    The winner of the Gold Event was Bob Speed (12) with 38 points from Mike Irwin (13) with 35 points.
    There were two rabbits for the day, being Bill Moran and Bill Parsons.

    The weekend results

    Saturday’s event was the March Monthly Medal sponsored by Foodworks with 43 competitors in the field.

    The winner of Division One and the March medal was Dion Sheahan (9) with a great nett 68 from Josh Green (9) with a nett 70.
    The Division Two winner was Andrew Armsden (13) with a nett 71. The runner up was Wayne Desmond (27) with a nett 74.
    Ball run down went to nett 76 on a countback. The nearest the pins were on the third Peter Vallance, on the seventh John Koraus, on the ninth Alan Eustace, on the twelfth Jason Christopher and on the sixteenth was Mark Pearson. Rod Sargent was nearest the pin second shot on the eighteenth. The NTP second shot on the seventeenth was Andrew Armsden (12-23) and third shot on the tenth was Wayne Desmond (24-36). The NTP third shot on the fifteenth (0-11) was Mark Jones.
    The JD Perks best scratch of the day went to Rod Sargent with a 76 gross.

    Meanwhile on the pennant side of things, the scratch team journeyed over to Yarrawonga on Sunday to play Beechworth and came away with a draw, two and a half wins each. The handicap team hosted at home on Sunday and did not play.
