    The Midweek Results

    Monday’s warm weather brought out 200 players to contest the NEDVGA men’s section at Bright.
    With a large contingent of Mansfield Vets in the field, we had winners in three of the five grades. Geoff Brown (8) achieved a win in “A” Grade with 36 points, along with Rod Dundas (7) with 34 points in fourth place. In “C” grade Rob Fankhauser (14) won with 38 points, in “D” grade Ray Findlay was runner-up with 35 points, meanwhile in “E” grade Paul Norris (23) got the chocolates with 36 points. Peter Vallance was NTP on the sixteenth and Mike Irwin picked up first prize in the raffle.

    Tuesday’s continuing warm weather brought out 36 players to play in the gold tee challenge. This was a 2 person mixed Ambrose event.
    The winners were the pairing of John Koraus and Peter Smiles (8.75) with a nett 56.25. In second place were Brendan Egan and Steve Shinns (10) with nett 57. The winners of the gross score were John Richardson and Domingo Diaz with 63 off the stick. Nearest the pins were on the third John Richardson, on the seventh was David Octigan, on the ninth was Tim Reilly, on the twelfth was Sam Sandhu and on the sixteenth was Domingo Diaz. NTP second shot on the eighteenth was David Octigan.
    Ball rundown went to nett 57.5.

    Thursday’s event saw a field of 70 golfers out for the regular Stableford event with some excellent scores being returned. There were also six competitors in the Gold event.
    The winner of Division One was Steve Chisholm (12) with 38 points from Brad Grant (9) with 38 points on a countback.
    The winner of Division Two was Rob Fankhauser (14) also with 38 points from John Quinn (19) with 36 points.
    The winner of Division Three was Dave Waterton (32) with the sore of the day 42 points from Peter Cullen (33) with 37 points.
    Ball run down went 34 points on a countback.
    The nearest the pins were Tony Crawford on the third, Mark Bettany on the seventh, Graham Clarke on the ninth, Chris Leaman on the twelfth and Rob Dundas on the sixteenth. NTP second shot on the eighteenth was Dave Hurle. The NTP third shot on the tenth was Dave Waterton, NTP second shot on the seventeenth was Rob Fankhauser and NTP third shot on the fifteenth was Dave Hurle.
    The winner of the Gold Event was Geoff Lowry (22) with 38 points from Bob Speed (12) with 36 points.
    There were two rabbits for the day, being Brendan Egan and Dave Octigan.

    Saturday’s event was the February Monthly medal sponsored by the Bonnie Doon Caravan Park.
    The winner of Division One was Tony Crawford (3) with a nett 69 from Dean Seccull (10) with a nett 71.
    The winner of Division Two and the February Monthly medal was Trevor Wright (17) with the score of the day a fantastic nett 68 from runner-up Laurie Harcus (18) with a nett 70.
    Ball run down went to nett 75 on a countback. The nearest the pins were on the third Tony Crawford, the seventh went to Kane Blunt, the ninth was Geoff Brown, the twelfth was Phil O’Connor and on the sixteenth was Michael Cooksey. The NTP second shot on the eighteenth Paul Lange. The best score on the par threes was shared between Laurie Harcus and Graham Clarke, whilst on the par fours there was a three way tie between Dion Sheahan, Kane Blunt and Dean Seccull. Jason Christopher cleaned up the best score on the par fives.
    The JD Perks scratch winner for the day was Tony Crawford with a gross 72.

    On Sunday the YSM Summer Pennant team journeyed over to Cobram Barooga to play Jubilee in the Division Two Final. The result was unfortunately a loss of 3 and 2. The game went down to the wire with a Jubilee player chipping in for an eagle! The boys played extremely well, and the spectators were treated to an exemplary display of golf.
