• Men’s Golf Report Week Ending 24th May 2020

  • Congratulations to Mark Bettany upon winning the May Monthly Medal.

    After a successful return to the fairways last week, the momentum on course continued this week. It is great to see an influx of new members as well.

    The Midweek results

    Monday’s event was a stableford competition and we had a small field of four players out on the park.
    The winner was Steve McMahon (4) with 34 points from Beau Purcell (23) with 30 points.

    Tuesday’s event was also Stableford with a field of 36 happy combatants.
    The winner was Rob Dundas (6) with 36 points on a countback from Geoff Brown (9) also with 36 points. Line balls went down to 30 points on a countback.

    Thursday’s event was the regular stableford competition with a field of 44 competitors.
    The winner of Division One was Paul Cougle (2) with 37 points on a countback from runner-up Tony Pridham (9) also with 37 points.
    The winner of Division Two was Nick Jones (21) with 34 points from runner-up Kerry Hartwig (16) with 37 points and John Saggers (16) in third possie with 33 points.
    The winner of Division Three was Col Whytcross (20) with 35 points from runner-up Kerry Hartwig (15) with 33 points.
    Line balls went down to 28 points on a countback.
    Owing to the Covid-19 restrictions there were no rabbits for the day.

    The Weekend Results

    Saturday’s event was the May Monthly Medal.
    A total of 59 energetic golfers turned out for the day, with winners being:
    Division one winner and May Medal was Mark Bettany (5) with a great nett 68 from runner-up Blair St Anne (2) with a nett 69. Third position went to Graham Mear (12) with a nett 70.
    Division Two winner was Sam Sandhu (15) with a nett 73 from runner-up Laurie Harcus (18) with a nett 74, and in third possie was Gary Johnson (16) with a nett 75.
    Line ball went down nett 76 on a countback.

    Sunday again saw a small field of four players out on the park to play a par event.
    The winner was Graham Mear (12) with minus four.

    With the current conditions changing day by day, I would remind ALL players to check the Local Rules board to confirm what changes have been made.
