• Men’s Golf Report Week Ending 22nd March 2020

  • The Midweek results

    Tuesday’s event saw a field of twenty-four players out on the park to play a stroke event.
    The winner was Geoff Brown (10) with an excellent nett 66 from Trevor Wright (17) with a nett 68. Ball rundown went to nett 76 on a countback. Nearest the pins were on the third was Gary Johnson, on the sixteenth was Geoff Morris and the NTP second shot on the eighteenth was Geoff Brown.

    The Wednesday twilight competition was a par event on the front nine. The winner was Nathan Polkinghorne with a nett 35.5.

    Also on Wednesday the Midweek Wanderers journeyed to Myrtleford for relaxing hit on their course.
    With two competitions being played the teams event went to Mic Davis, Graham Clarke, Peter Vallance and Dan Robertson with a score of 137 points. The individual completion was won by Graham Clarke with 39 points. Ball rundown to 35 points on a countback. NTP’s on the par threes were on the first Phil Conway, on the fourteenth was Peter Vallance and on the sixteenth culminating in a birdie was Bob Speed.

     

    Thursday’s event was a stableford competition with seventy-nine players competing. There were also two competitors in the gold event.
    The winner of Division One was Rob Dundas (9) with an excellent 44 points from Blair St Anne (5) with 40 points.
    The winner of Division Two was Phillip Corr (19) with 39 points from Cec McIntosh (13) with 38 points.
    The winner of Division Three was Warren Shepherd (34) with 38 points from Adrian Smith (21) with 37 points.
    Ball run down went to 34 points on a countback.
    The winner of the gold event was Les Wood (28) with 37 points.
    Nearest the pins on the par threes were on the third Adrian Smith, on the seventh was John Koraus. Closest second shot on the eighteenth was Trevor West, whilst on the seventeenth it was Fred Rogers. The closest third shots were on the tenth Perrin Gooding and on the fifteenth Michael Harrison hit a great shot.
    There were two rabbits for the day, and they were Maurie Walsh and Martin Slack.

    The Weekend Results

    Saturday’s event was the Annual Parsons’ Father/Son and Family 4BBB stableford event.
    We thank the Parsons’ Family for their continued support for this keenly contested event.
    The winners of the Father and Son event were Rod Sargent (4) and Aaron Sargent (25) with a team score of 44 points.
    The winners of the Family event were Louise Calvert-Jones (25) and James Calvert-Jones (26) with 43 points. The men’s event winners were Steve Chisholm (14) and Kane Blunt (7) with 45 points on a countback from Bob Cullen (12) and Mark Bettany (7). Line balls in the men’s competition went to 40 points on a countback, whist in the mixed they went to 41 points on a countback. In the Ladies competition the line ball went to 39 points.
    Nearest the pins on the par threes were on the third Brendan Egan, on the seventh was Mark Bettany and on the sixteenth was Geoff Payne.

    Sunday was the second round of the pennant season.
    The scratch team played Beechworth at Yarrawonga and won 3/2.
    The handicap team battled against Benalla at Jubilee and won 4/1.
