• Men’s Golf Report Week Ending 1st March 2020

    The Midweek results

    On Monday the vets travelled to Bright for their monthly competition. There were 13 men and four women competing on the day. Highlights were Peter Hunt being runner-up in “D” grade, and Linda Brook receiving a line ball.

    Tuesday’s event was a stroke competition with some twenty-seven players doing battle.
    The winner was Laurie Harcus (20) with a great nett 68 from Dan Robertson (+2), four under par with a nett 69. Ball rundown went to nett 75 on a countback. The hidden holes was won by Bill Taylor. Nearest the Pins on the par threes were on the third Steve Carroll, on the seventh Tony Crawford and on the sixteenth Blair St Anne. The hidden Holes was won by Neil Walker, with Sam Sandhu taking out the best score for holes 14-18.

    The Wednesday twilight competition was a combined stableford event on the front nine. With some keen competition between the eighteen competing pairs scores were great on the night. The winning combination of Shaun Wade and Danny Oliver amassed 30 points to clean up.

    Thursday’s event saw field of eighty-one golfers fronting the starter for the regular Stableford event in warm conditions with some great scores being returned. There were three competitors in the Gold event.
    The winner of Division One was Graham Clarke (12) with 38 points on a countback from Dave Octigan (12) also with 38 points.
    The winner of Division Two was John Saggers (16) with 39 points from John Hawkes (22) with 38 points.
    The winner of Division Three was Larry Ball from Jubilee (23) with 38 points on a countback from Daryl Horwood (28) also with 38 points.
    Ball run down went 34 points on a countback.
    The winner of the “Gold” event was Geoff Lowry (19) with 36 points.
    Nearest the pins were Daryl Horwood on the third, John Saggers on the seventh, Brad Grant on the ninth, Cec McIntosh on the twelfth and Rod Sargent on the sixteenth. NTP second shot on the eighteenth was Trevor West. The NTP third shot on the fifteenth was Mark Jones, whilst the NTP third shot on the tenth for handicaps 24+ was Tom Swan. The nearest the pin second shot on the seventeenth for handicaps 12 to 23 was Taki Murakami. There were two rabbits for the day, and they were Rob Healy and Alan Agar.

    The Weekend Results

    Saturday’s competition was the February Monthly Medal sponsored by Bonnie Doon Caravan Park. With a field of 55 players there was some interesting scores with new handicapping system alterations taking effect.
    The winner of Division One and the medal was Dean Seccull (11) with a fine nett 67 from runner-up Rob Healy (11) with a nett 72 on a countback from third placed Rod Sargent (3) also with a nett 72.
    The winner of Division Two was Phillip Corr (21) with a nett 71 from runner-up Paul Richardson (17) with a nett 72 and third place went to Laurie Harcus (19) with a nett 73. Line balls went to nett 75 on a countback.
    Nearest the pins on the par threes were Peter Dolling on the third, Blair St Anne on the seventh, Rob Healy on the ninth, Jason Wilson on the twelfth and Bill Taylor on the sixteenth. Closest second shot on the eighteenth was Phil Conway. NTP third shot on the fifteenth was Kane Blunt, whilst on the seventeenth the NTP second shot was Steve Chisholm. As no player got on tenth a card draw was held and the winner was Peter Hood. The JD Perks best scratch was Rod Sargent with a gross score of 75.
