• Men’s Golf Report – Week Ending 17th March 2019

  • Great scores still the name of the game.

    With Tony and the boys keeping the course up to its usual great standard in this weather, golfers are continuing to create some excellent scores.

    Tuesday had 28 players contesting a Par event.
    The winner was Adrian Lewis (33) with plus six from Chris Purcell (29) with plus four. Ball rundown went to minus one on a countback. Nearest the pin on the third was Gary Henry, on the ninth was Heinz Gogol and on the sixteenth was Oliver Shaw.

    Wednesday’s daylight saving event was a two person Ambrose competition with 26 players competing. The winners were Rod Sargent and Phil Conway.

    Thursday’s event saw a field of 62 golfing enthusiasts fronting the starter for the regular Stableford event with some great scores being returned. There were three players contesting the Gold event.
    The winner of Division One was Bill Parsons (16) with a fantastic score of 44 points (79 off the stick) from Rob Pratt (15) with 42 points.
    The winner of Division Two was Mic Davis (18) with an impressive 43 points from Shane O’Brien (19) with an equally good 42 points on a countback. Ball run down went 38 points on a countback. Nearest the pins were Geoff Brown on the third, Dan Robertson on the seventh, Mark Bettany on the ninth, Roger Eddy on the twelfth and Adam Holt on the sixteenth. Nearest the pin second shot on the eighteenth was collected by Rod Sargent. The best score on the par threes and par fives combined was won by Trevor West. The closest to the pin for handicaps +1 to 16 on the tenth was won by Tony Crawford, whilst for the handicaps 17+ on the first it was Mic Davis.
    The Gold event winner was Geoff Lowry (30) with 48 points.
    There were two rabbits for the day, being Mick Grimes and Brad Grant.

    Saturday’s event was a stroke competition with 36 players enjoying the continuing warm March conditions. The winner was Dean Seccull (22) with a sensational score of nett 64 from Fred Rogers (16) with an equally impressive nett 67. Ball run down went to nett 71 on a countback. Nearest the pins were Sam Sandhu on the third, Chris Leaman on the seventh, Jeremy Veneman on the ninth, Mark Bettany on the twelfth and David Smithwick on the sixteenth. The second shot on the eighteenth was collected by Michael Cooksey, and the NTP second shot on the first went to Chris Leaman, whilst the NTP second shot on seventeen was won by Mark Pearson.

    The Volkswagen Scramble team competed valiantly but a few missed putts were costly in the end. Congratulations on reaching the state final boys.
