Men’s Golf Report Week Ending 16th May 2021

The Midweek Results

Tuesday’s event was the monthly Gold Tee challenge. There were seventeen pairs contesting this two person Ambrose stroke event.
The winners were Dave Octigan and Daryl Horwood with a nett 57, from Rob Dundas and Frank DeVries with a nett 58.5.
Ball rundown went to nett 62 on a countback.
The nearest the pins on the par threes were – Dave Octigan and Daryl Horwood on the third, John Koraus and Peter Smiles on the seventh, and Geoff Payne and Phil Conway on the sixteenth. The best scratch score went to Tony Crawford and Trevor Wright.

Thursday’s event saw a field of 68 happy golfers fronting the starter for the regular Stableford event. There were also three competitors in the Gold event.
The winner of Division One was Rod Sargent (1) with 39 points from Paul Lange (16) with 36 points.
The winner of Division Two was John Saggers (17) with 39 points from Bruce Beecham (31) with 38 points.
Ball run down went 33 points on a countback.
The nearest the pins were Ian Jones on the third, Gary Johnson on the seventh, Tom Swan on the ninth, Kerry Hartwig on the twelfth and Gary Henry on the sixteenth. NTP second shot on the eighteenth was Peter Vallance. The NTP second shot on the seventeenth was Rod Sargent, the NTP second shot for handicaps 12-23 was John Saggers and for handicaps 24-36 on the tenth it was Bruce Beecham.
The winner of the Gold Event was Graham Smith (23) with 35 points.
The rabbits for the day were Bill Moran and Dave Octigan.

The weekend results

Saturday’s event was a stroke competition incorporating the first round of the club championships. There were 42 players competing.
The winner was John Koraus (13) with a nett 70 from Kane Blunt (5) with a nett 71.
Ball run down went to nett 78 on a countback.
The nearest the pins were on the third Col Whytcross, on the seventh was Aaron Knight, on the ninth was Mark Jones, on the twelfth was Kyle Bridgman and on the sixteenth was Dave Octigan. NTP second shot on the eighteenth was Kane Blunt. The hidden holes wen to Rod Sargent
