• Men’s Golf Report – Week ending 15th September 2019

  • The Midweek results

    Tuesday’s event saw a field of 25 players out contesting a stableford event.
    The winner was Mark Jones (5) with a great 39 points (two over par) from Ray Findlay (24) with 36 points. Ball rundown went 31 points. Nearest the pin on the third was Laurie Harcus and on the sixteenth was Taki Murakami. The hidden holes was won by Peter Dolling.

    Thursday’s event saw a large field of 70 very happy souls fronting the starter for the regular Stableford event, as well as two gold participants. The winner of Division One was Maurie Walsh (13) with 39 points on a countback from Rob Dundas (10) also with 39 points. The winner of Division Two was Neil Walker (29) with 38 points from Col Whytcross (20) with 37 points.
    Ball run down went 36 points on a countback.
    Nearest the pins were Rob Dundas on the third, Brad Grant on the seventh, Adam Holt on the ninth, Martin Slack on the twelfth and Graham Mear on the sixteenth. NTP second shot on the eighteenth was Dan Robertson, whilst on the tenth Brad Grant. There were two rabbits for the day, and they were Nathan Pelling and Jarrod Heath.
    The Gold event saw Geoff Lowry (29) still continuing his good form taking out the event with a mammoth 45 points.

    The Golf Premier League results were:
    The Hounds of Stableford (102 points) lost to TMG’s (109 points)
    Snake Pit (98 points) lost to The Freds (104 points)
    X-Factors (110 points) DEF Premium Unleaded (108 points).
    Eagles & Birdies (106 points) lost to Young Guns (108) points.

    The Weekend Results

    Saturday’s event saw a field of 40 players contesting a Stableford event.
    The winner was Dennis Sheahan (23) with a score of 40 points from Wayne Desmond) with a score 38 points. Ball run down went to 33 points on a countback. Nearest the pins were Gary Johnson on the third, Brad Grant on the seventh, Bob Speed on the ninth, Chris Leaman on the twelfth and Rob Healy on the sixteenth. Nearest the pin third shot on the second went to Mark Jones, whilst Mark Pearson was nearest the pin third shot on the thirteenth.

    On Sunday the Golf Vic Play 9 District Final was held at Yarrawonga.
    Our representatives were Bill Parsons and Brendan Egan. Whilst both members played well, it was to no avail. However there is always next year.

    Thursday 3rd October – Stableford and GPL 12.30pm shotgun start. There will be a presentation in the clubhouse at 5pm of the proposed clubhouse renovations by the Club’s architects.
    Saturday 5th October – Open Stroke
