• Men’s Golf Report – Week ending 14th April 2019

    Hot scores still the name of the game.

    With Tony and the boys keeping the course up to its usual great standard in this weather, the golf is still continuing to create some excellent scores.

    Tuesday had 23 players contesting a stableford event.
    The winner was Garry Henry (15) with 41 points from Paul Cougle (6) with 39 points. Ball rundown went to 33 points on a countback. Nearest the Pin on the third was Peter Baddeley, on the sixteenth was Paul Norris, and NTP second shot on the eighteenth was Paul Cougle.

    Thursday’s event saw a field of 59 keen golfers fronting the starter for the regular Stableford event with some excellent scores being returned. There were three players contesting the Gold event.
    The winner of Division One was Jarrod Heath (14) with a fantastic score of 44 points from Mic Davis (15) with 40 points. The winner of Division Two was Damien Ryan (19) with an impressive 41 points from Sam Sandhu (18) with 40 points on a countback. Ball run down went 36 points on a countback. Nearest the pins were Nick Jones on the third, Charles Robertson on the seventh, Rod Sargent on the ninth, Rob Dundas on the twelfth and Trevor Wright on the sixteenth. Nearest the pin second shot on the eighteenth was collected by Domingo Diaz. The closest to the pin on the tenth second shot was won by Dan Robertson, whilst on the seventeenth it was Blair St Anne.
    The Gold event winner was Geoff Lowry (29) with 45 points.
    There were two rabbits for the day, being Geoff Brown and Shaun Wade.

    Saturday’s event was the annual KJ Evans foursomes with 36 players enjoying the continuing warm March conditions. The winners of the scratch event in a sudden death playoff were Rod Sargent and Mark Bettany from Blair St Anne and Tony Pridham. Both pairs tied with a gross score of 114.The nett event was won by Blair St Anne and Tony Pridham with 105 nett from Fred Rogers and Bob Speed with 106.5 nett. Line balls went 107.75 nett on a countback. Nearest the pins were Rod Sargent on the third, Mark Bettany on the ninth and Alan Eustace on the sixteenth.

    Pennant Results from Sunday
    The Scratch team at Thurgoona against Thurgoona lost 5/0
    The Handicap team at Yackandandah against Wangaratta won 4/1
    This now leads us into the finals on Sunday 28th April @ Commercial Albury. The handicap team will be up against Yarrawonga for a chance at the flag.
