MENS GOLF FOR THE W/E 15TH OCT 2023

Improving weather conditions and course conditions led to a big week with the first 2 rounds of the club championships.

On Tuesday in a stableford competition we had a field of 27 players with some terrific scores being registered with the top 6 players either equalling or bettering their handicaps. The winner was Alan Parrott with a score of 40 points with Rob Pratt finishing second on 39 points and Brendan Egan coming in third with 38 points beating Rob Healy on a countback.

Thursday saw the start of the Mansfield Golf League with 8 teams entered this season. There was a total of 50 playing and as a result there were 2 divisions;

A GRADE

1st: Shaun Wade 41 points

2nd: Rob Healy 34 points (on a countback)

3rd: Stephen Daykin 34 points

B GRADE

1st: Trevor West 35 points

2nd: Peter Smiles 34 points

3rd: Gary Johnson 32 points

A great round by Shaun Wade who played a great round that was 3 over par

On Saturday the first round of the club championships was payed. A stroke competition was played in conjunction with the championships and the daily winner was Alan Parrott who had a great win for the second time this week.

A GRADE

1st: Alan Parrott -2

2nd: Rod Sargent Even

3rd: Paul Lange +1 (on a countback)

B GRADE

1st: John Koraus Even (on a countback)

2nd: Christopher Purcell Even

3rd: Daryl Harwood +1

On Sunday the second round of the club championships was held and after 2 days of competition all 4 divisions are a tightly run races;

In A Grade our raining club champion Kyle Bridgeman is leading 142 strokes from Rod Sargent 151  and Mark Jones on 161.

B Grade is very close with Maria Walsh and Phil Conway leading on a score of 171 with James Octagon on 173 and Joel Sanford, Justin Sargent and Paul Lange on 175 strokes.

C Grade has Alan Parrott and John Korans tied on 179 strokes from Steve Daykin on 184 and Dave Octagon on 186

D Grade has Zac Tanner leading on a score of 196 from Aaron Roberts and Peter Sargent both on 201 strokes.

This coming weekend’s going to be very busy with the October Monthly Medal sponsored by Walshy’s Wiring, the Medal of Medals final and the third round of the club championships on Saturday and on Sunday the final round of the Championships. After the completion of the final round on Sunday there will be the presentation of the awards for this season.
