• Mansfield Ladies Golf Report Week Ending 17th March 19

  • Mansfield ladies had a successful week in pennant with wins to both Div 1 and Div 3.

Our Div 1 team were up against Wodonga and with strong game wins from Andrea Marsden, Donna Sedgman, Sheryl Sargent and Sam Bailey, they took out the match 4/1. In Div 3 the girls went one better, winning 5/0 against Jubilee. Well done to the team of Margie Franke-Williams, Louise Calvert-Jones, Jenny Foster, Marion Sargeant and first time pennant player, Linda Brook, who was very excited to score her 3/1 win! Meanwhile Div 2 struggled against the perennial tough team of Yarrawonga, losing 4/1.
At home, with so many off playing pennant, only 4 ladies contested the 9 hole stableford comp on Tuesday, with Robyn Baker leading the way with a very nice 18 points.

Wednesday was a 2-person ambrose event and the pairing of Donna Sedgman and Nicki Cooper were narrow victors with nett 69 over the combination of Linda Terry and Sheryl Sargent with 69.25. Sheryl Sargent demonstrated her steady form around the par 3’s, taking the nearest the pin on both the 3rd and 16th.

It was a quiet day on Thursday with only 4 ladies contesting the George Walker round with Kay Rose winning with 14pts. Meanwhile 4 ladies travelled that day to Wangaratta to play in their Bowl, but despite some great individual results, the team was pipped for the win.

Saturday’s stroke round was won by Millie Cumming with a lovely 71 and runner up was Linda Terry with 73. A line ball went to Robyn Baker with 75 and Terry also won the putting for the day.
We are very pleased to have a number of new lady members and some are currently getting their initial handicap cards in. We look forward to having them join us in future comps and on social days. A great opportunity will be on 3rd April when we hold our Open Day, which is a relaxed 14 hole Foursomes event followed by lunch and lots of socialising. This day is particularly around welcoming new members or lapsed players who we’d like to encourage to come out for a hit, so if that describes you – give the Golf Shop a call and they will pass on your details to one of the girls to pair up with.

    Cheers

    Linda Terry
