Mansfield Ladies Golf Report

Well things are well and truly getting back to the rhythm of playing golf again! Numbers are up as everyone delights in being back out there, with the added bonus of those that normally head off on their winter escape north, still being at home and playing. Tuesday probably was a record with 19 ladies playing! Winners of the 9 holes of stableford were in Div one, Lyn Holland with 1 points on a countback from Sheryl Sargent and in Div two, Marion Mitchell also with 16 from Linda Brook with 15.
On Wednesday the ladies were catching up on the March Monthly Medal and 20 ladies headed out in very soggy conditions after a night of heavy rain. Our new “Covid” design holes with the base raised by the use of a piece of pool “noodle” created an interesting variation as they were often floating and poking above the hole! But necessity is the mother of invention as they say and we all coped with the variation in rules! Winner of the medal was Margie Franke-Williams who is just returned from a long lay-off recovering from knee surgery and her great result of nett 73 was testament to the hard work she has put in to come back from her terrible ski accident last winter. Well done Margie – you are an inspiration! Runner up was Linda Brook with nett 78 on a countback to 3rd place winner Sue Parsons also with 78. Balls went to Lyn Holland 79, Glenis Skinner 79, Jenny Foster 80 and Robyn Baker 80. Best score on par 3’s was shared 5 ways between Linda Brook, Sue Parsons, Lyn Poulson, Lyn Holland, Glenis Skinner.
Thursday was wet and miserable and only Sam Bailey and Lesley Anderson were mad enough to venture out with Sam winning with 12 points for the 9 holes.
Finally, on Saturday another great field 17 and with the sun now shining it was a glorious day of golf. Winner was Linda Brook with a lovely 33 points, 2nd Sam Bailey 31 and 3rd Linda Terry 30. Balls went to Lyn Poulson 29. Millie Cumming 29, Lyn Holland 28 and Marion Mitchell 28. The 2 Lyns shared share the winnings for the best on holes 7-12.
A note to our ladies – the revised calendar of events through to the end of July is up in our locker room. This Saturday will be our May Monthly Medal.
