The North East District Championship was held over 3 sunny winter days with 11 of our ladies competing and finding the course very challenging, particularly the pin positions.
Marg Franke-Williams was the only one with a winning score, taking out Div 2 Handicap on the Tuesday with a nett 77. Apart from the golf scores, a good time was had by all, ending with the presentation of the 2018 Div 2 Pennant Flag to Mansfield at the Championship dinner.
With all these ladies playing away, it was a very quiet time on the home course, even with the sunny days and great course conditions. Despite the heavy frosts, 4 ladies played stableford on Tuesday, with Marg Gray winning with 13 points from Anne Watkins on 11 . Wednesday’s 2person Ambrose had only 4 ladies playing a tightly contested game with Millie Cumming and Norma Friday on 78 narrowly beating Lesley Anderson and Marie Daly on 78.75. Thursday and only 2 ladies played, this time Anne Watkins with 12 points took the honours from Kay Rose who scored 11 points.
Saturdays Gentsomes Team Event had 9 ladies competing along with 36 men. Lyn Holland was part of the winning team which had 143 points , playing with Fred Rogers, Alan Eustace and Bob Speed.
