• Ladies Golf Report – Week ending July 1st 2018

  • Although the days have been sunny , it has been the dedicated players who have braved the frosty mornings.

Tuesday saw the usual 4 players contesting the 9 hole stableford. Anne Watkins won with 15 points from Pam Abbott  with 14 points. 16 players fronted on Wednesday for the Monthly Medal stroke event. Donna Sedgman was keen to play, having missed playing over the past 2 weeks and this proved to not be a problem, as she came in with the winning score of 74 nett, ahead of Linda Terry on 75. Line balls went to Margie Franke- Williams 75, Nikki Coffey and Glenis Skinner 76, Shirley Nolen 77 and Shelly Comerford 78. After contesting the North East District Championship at the Jubilee course, with its deceiving greens, a very happy Shelly didn’t have a problem on her home course with a total of 27 putts. Her first time ever putting win!  Nearest the pin on the 3rd was Donna Sedgman, and the closest chip was won by Glenis Skinner. Thursday, another frost and with light cloudy skies, only 3 ladies played stableford . This  was won on a count back by Kaye Rose from Pam Abbott, with both having 16 points. Saturday was a bleak day and only 4 ladies braved the freezing conditions. Millie Cumming took the honours with a nett 80 from  Marion Foster with 85 nett.

Our money raising effort  for the Cancer Council has begun. Over the next 4 weeks the ladies will be out and about selling hamper raffle tickets with all money raised going to the Cancer Council for research. The winners will be drawn on August 1st, our Cancer Bowl day.
