• Ladies Golf Report – Week ending January 8th January 2017

  • PLENTY of ladies got out for a game last week, despite some pretty hot weather.

A field of nine hit off in the nine hole Par round on Tuesday, won by Jan Konik with a score of +2 from Judi Claringbold on 0.

Line balls went to Marg Franke-Williams and Jacqui Smithwick, both on -1.

Wednesday’s field of 24 was the largest for some time – looks like the rellies and other visitors might have finally gone home.

Division One winner was Nicki Cooper with a great 40 points, while Nikki Coffey won Division Two with 38.

Division One runner up was Donna Sedgman with 34 with Jacqui Smithwick runner up in Division Two with 37.

Line balls went to Linda Terry, Sue Parsons and Lyn Holland, all on 33 and to Lyn Poulson, Marion Mitchell, Norma Friday and Lorraine Cullen, all on 32.

Nicki Cooper’s good score showed that she had her eye in, as did the fact that she took out the nearest the pins on the 12th and 16th holes.

Donna Sedgman was nearest the pin on the seventh.

Lyn Holland took the Pro Pin on the third, Andrea Marsden won the putting, Sue Parsons the Hidden Holes and Marg Franke-Williams the 18th hole shootout.

Thursday’s field of 16 was also one of the largest for some time, with 16 competitors.

Marion Foster won with a good 20 points from Nikki Coffey on 18 on a countback from Lesley Anderson and Gayle Wells.

Other line ball winners were Kay Rose, Sam Bailey and Jan Konik, all on 17.

Nicki Cooper continued her good form, taking out the par event and the net birdies on Saturday with +2 from Donna Sedgman on 0.

Other net birdie winners were Lyn Holland, Donna Sedgman and visitor Bronwyn Hampson.

Andrea Marsden took nearest the pin on the third and line balls went to Gayle Wells and Lyn Holland on -2 and Jacqui Smithwick and Marion Sargeant on -3.

Sunday’s nine hole stableford was won by Ann Jaggard on 20 from Andrea Marsden on 13.

It has been decided that the new Pennant shirt will also be available at a bulk price to other ladies who would like to have the Mansfield ‘team’ look when playing Bowls, or helping at home with events – it is always good to be recognised as a Mansfield player.

If you would like to purchase a shirt, can you let Nikki Coffey know and give her your size before 18th January.

At last look, there was a size 10 and a size 14 at the pro shop you can use as a sizing guide.

Nikki will then organise a second order of the shirts. The expected cost of the shirt will be around $60 including embroidery of the Club’s logo.
