  • “Sue Parsons wins Mansfield Cup and Monthly Medal”

Saturday was the final of the Mansfield Cup with eight of our best lady golfers playing for the inaugural Cup.  Sue Parsons had a close win over Millie Cummings on the day.  Well done Sue.  Congratulations to Donna Sedgman, Lesley Anderson, Anne Watkins, Sheryl Sargent, Glenis Skinner and Nicki Cooper who all qualified to play the final.

Saturday was also the Monthly Medal sponsored by Delatite Dental.  Sue Parsons’ good form saw her also win the Medal on the day with a terrific 71 net from Marg Franke-Williams on 74 net.  Ten of the ladies who played won line balls with Sue Parsons also winning the putting, Marg Franke-Williams had the best score on holes 13-8 and Sheryl Sargent had nearest the pin on the 3rd.

It is great to see large fields for the ladies golf.  Everyone seems to be enjoying our great course, the Spring weather and the fellowship amongst the ladies.

Tuesday’s Stroke round saw 9 ladies play.  Marion Mitchell won Division 1 with net 38 and Anne Watkins won Division 2 with net 39.

25 ladies played Wednesday’s Stableford event with some great scores from the winners.  Sherly Sargent won Division 1 (39 points) from Linda Terry (34 points) and Nikki Coffey won Division 2 (39 points) from Shelly Comerford (34 points).  Nearest the pins were Andrea Marsden on 3rd, Sue Parsons on 7th and Christine Fraser on 16th.  Closest shot on 18th was Patsy Smiles and closest chip was Nikki Coffey.

Next Wednesday will be the semi-final of the Premier League.  The All Smiles team will play the Scramblers and the Silver Drivers will play the Salt & Pepper team.  Good luck to all players.

Finally, following the Club’s Annual General Meeting on Sunday, we farewelled Marion Sargeant as Club President after completing her term and welcomed Nikki Coffey as the new Club President.
