  • Players decided for Finals of Ladies Championships

The third week of the ladies championships was played on Wednesday. After two weeks of stroke the last two weeks are now Match Play.  This always makes it interesting with some of the games going down to the wire.

In A Grade, Nicki Cooper defeated Marg Knapp 5/4 and Lyn Holland finally defeated Sheryl Sargent on 19th hole.

In B Grade, Linda Terry defeated Shelly Comerford 7/6 and Patsy Smiles defeated Lyn Poulson 4/3.

In C Grade Marion Sargeant defeated Jenny Foster 3/2 and Marion Mitchell had to fight to the 20th hole to defeat Lesley Anderson.

In D Grade Nikki Coffey defeated Meg Broomfield 5/3 and Anne Watkins defeated Norma Friday 5/4.

For those who did not play in the championships this week, 9 ladies played a Stableford competition. Sam Bailey won with 36 points from Robyn Baker on 35 points.  Line balls went down to 23 with Millie Cumming starting off with 32 followed by Lorraine Cullen, Shirley Nolan, Linda Brook and Sue Parsons.  Nearest the pins were Millie Cumming on 3rd and Lorraine Cullen on 16th.

The final competition for the week was Stableford on Thursday with 4 ladies.  Donna Sedgman won with 18 points for Lorraine Wilson on 17 points.

Good luck to those eight ladies who will be playing 27 holes in the finals next Wednesday.

    Cheers
