• Ladies Golf Report – Week ending 1st Sept 2019

  • Great Opportunity for Ladies to try Golf

It’s lovely to see some of our ladies returning from their winter travels and returning to our Wednesday golf in particular. This week was our monthly medal, sponsored by Snowgum Nursery and 18 ladies turned out to play in picture perfect weather. Winner of the Medal was Sheryl Sargent with nett 75. Sheryl was delighted to win the Snowgum voucher as there is plenty to do in the garden now Spring is here! Runner up was Donna Sedgman with 77 on a countback from Marg Knapp. Line balls went to Sam Bailey, Marion Mitchell, Gayle Wells, Linda Terry, Glenis Skinner and Linda Brook. Sheryl Sargent was certainly in form, to also take out the NTP on the 3rd and the closest 3rd shot on the 18th while Shelly Comerford won the chipping contest and Sam Bailey the putting.

On Tuesday Ann Watkins had a very nice Par round to win with a square. On Saturday, Sue Parsons came in with a lovely nett 74 to win the stroke round. Sheryl Sargent was runner up on a countback from Millie Cumming, both with 77. Sue also won the putting.

We were delighted with the response to our free practice sessions run by the member ladies with help from our Pro, Dan Robertson, for ladies new to golf. Sixteen ladies took part over the 4 sessions during July/August and it was great to see them working on their golf skills whilst also enjoying the social side of the morning. The Club is now offering a fantastic deal to follow up on these sessions, which will allow ladies new to golf to take the next step in attending 3 clinics while being loaned clubs and buggy and with 6 month access to the course, the practice range and range balls. At just $60/mth for the 6 months starting October, it is great value and the perfect way to give golf a go. More details can be found on the Mansfield Golf Club website.
