• Men’s Golf Report – Week ending November 13th 2016

  • As we all know the Annual Mansfield & District Hospital Charity Trade Golf Day event was held on Friday, with 110 players competing for the prizes. A huge thank you is required for Allan Agar and his band of helpers in organising and running the day. A total of $15,000 was raised for the hospital on the day. Winners of the Teams event was Nathan Kynnersley, Warren Smith, Dave Moore and Fraser Stevenson with 178 nett.

    Tuesday was a par event with a field of 25 players out for a walk and two players in the Gold event.

    The winner was John Hayes (34) with an excellent score of plus 8. Runner up was Heinz Gogol (25) with a score of plus 7. Ball run down went to minus 1, nearest the pin on the 7th went to Brad Grant, with the 12th going to Beau Purcell. Brad also collected NTP 2nd shot on 18 as well the only 2 on a par 3. Alan Eustace won the pro pin on the 3rd. Winner of the Gold event was Tony Froude with plus 4 on a countback.

    The daylight saving Wednesday 9 hole competition continued this week with 15 golfers attending for a Stableford event. The winner was Jarrod Heath (15) with 22 points and runner up was Phil Conway (12) with 19 points.

    Thursday saw the Grand Final of Golf Premier League.

    This resulted in The X Factors defeating Snake Pit 111 points to 108 points. Congratulations to the team of Dan Robertson, Brad Grant, Sam Sandhu, Dave McKenzie, Maurie Walsh and Phil Conway on their win.

    We had a great field of 64 participants front the starter for the regular Stableford event. This created two prize divisions.

    The winner of Division 1 was Alan Eustace (17) with a great score of 42 points, with Jarrod Heath (15) being the runner up with 41 points.

    The winner of Division 2 was Ken Fisher (26) with an excellent 44 points from Laurie Harcus (23) on 40 points.

    Ball run down went to 37 points on a countback. Nearest the on the 7th, 9th and 12th was Dan Robertson and the 16th was Adrian Smith. Rob Healy took out the pro pin on the 3rd. Jarrod Heath picked up the Hidden Holes with Len Foster the runner-up. Nearest the pin 2nd shot on the 18th was collected by Fred Rogers.

    The two novelty events were NTP 2nd shot on the 1st collected by Oliver Pearson, with Phil Conway picking up the NTP 3rd shot on the 15th. The two rabbits were Dave McKenzie and Chris Durkin.

    The Gold Course was won by Ron Britton (33) with 44 points with Peter Healy (29) runner up with 42 points.

    Saturday saw a Stableford event being contested. The winner was Laurie Harcus (23) with 41 points. Runner-up was Perrin Gooding (25) with 39 points. Ball rundown went to 35 points on a countback.

    Nearest the pins were on the 7th Fred Rogers, 9th Geoff Morris, 12th David Octigan and the 16th Bob Speed. The pro pin on the 3rd and the hidden holes went Sam Sandhu. 2’s on par 3’s went to Sam Sandhu and Phil Conway.

    Sunday saw the sixth and seventh rounds of the Golf Premier League 9 hole event on the back nine.

    Winners for the day were Ben Martin (18) with 24 points from Alan Eustace (16) with 22 points and David McKenzie (29) with 21 points. Ball rundown went 18 on a countback.

    Tip for this week:

    Do not “expect” to play well. Good golf is about embracing the possibilities and not expecting anything with regards to the final outcome.
