• Men’s Golf Report – Week ending 5th November 2017

  • Congratulations this week go to Jarrod Heath for winning the best player award in the Golf Premier League this year.

     

    Now for this week’s results.

    Tuesday’s event saw a small field of 10 players out contesting a stableford event.

    The winner Brad Grant (9) with 37 points from Peter Dolling (21) with 33 points.

    Thursday’s event saw a field of 61 very happy souls fronting the starter for the regular Stableford event, as well as four gold participants. The Golf Premier League Grand Final was also being held in conjunction with the day’s event.

    The winner of Division One was Rod Sargent (4) with a score of 38 points from Jarrod Heath (13) on a countback.

    The winner of Division Two was Adam Holt (20) with a score of 39 points on a countback from Tom Swan (32).

    Ball run down went 33 points on a countback. Nearest the pins were Geoff Brown on the seventh, Neil Walker on the ninth, Beau Purcell on the 12th and Adam Holt on the 16th, and nearest the pin second shot on the 18th went to Tony Pridham. Nick Siperki took out the pro pin on the third.  Best score on holes 13-18 was won by Keith Murphy and holes one to six was Peter Dolling.

    There two rabbits were Dave McKenzie and Phil Conway. The Gold event saw Geoff Lowry (33) the winner with 46 points from Graham Smith (32) with 43 points.

    The Golf Premier League Grand Final results were:

    The Hounds of Stableford 147 points Def X-Factors 140 points. Congratulations to the winning team ably led by the Player of the Year, Jarrod Heath.

     

    Saturday saw a Stableford event being held with a field of 44 participants..

    The winner of Division 1 was Brad Grant (8) with 39 points on a countback from Mark Jones (8).

    The winner of Division 2 was Heinz Gogol (24) with 37 points from Neil Walker (25) with 36 points.

    Ball rundown went to 33 points on a countback. Nearest the pin on the seventh was won by Dion Sheahan, Adam Holt on the ninth, Peter Sargeant on the 12th and Kane Blunt on the 16th. The pro pin on the third was and 2nd shot Dion Sheahan. There were also six two’s on par threes.

     

    The Men’s matchplay results went as follows:

    A Grade

    Mark Bettany Def Ollie Shaw 2/1 and Rod Sargent Def Ross Penny 3/2.

    B Grade

    Shaun Wade Def Alan Parrott 5/4 and Geoff Brown Def Phil Conway on the 20th hole.

    C Grade

    Bill Parsons Def Robin Pratt 5/4 and Steve Chisholm Def Nick Siperki on the 20th hole also.

    D Grade

    Rob Purcell Def Adrian Smith 6/5 and Laurie Harcus Def Nick Jones 3/1.

    Tip for this week:

    For chipping, pretend you are throwing the ball underhand to get it close to the flag. Where would you want it to land? Then just use a club that reproduces this thought.
