  • Brook and Knapp In-Form Leading into Champs.

With a week to go before the ladies kick off their Championships, it was all about trying to hone the skills during this week’s comps, with some more successful than others! Wednesday was a Par round and only one player of 27 playing, managed to score on the positive side and that was the in-form Linda Brook, who came in with +3 to win the day. Next best was current ladies champion, Marg Knapp who had -1 for runner up. This should be a good confidence boost to Marg as she readies herself to defend her title! Sharing third place was Marion Mitchell and Lyn Poulson who both had -2. Line balls went down the line to -5.

Wednesday was also the first round of our Premier League round robin for 2020. We have an amazing 10 teams this year. Winning teams this week were: Par Tee Girls over Chips and Runs; N&M’s over The Wino’s; Three Decades over The Oompa Loompas; 2020’s over The Hopeful’s and Bold and Smooth over The 3 Musketeers.

With a return to winter on the weekend the course was quite heavy again and conditions slow. Eight ladies dodged the showers to play a stroke round and it was a visitor from Latrobe GC, Paula Ahola who led the field with nett 75, winning on a countback to Robyn Baker. Line balls went to Linda Brook 76, Marion Mitchell 79 and Linda Terry 79. Robyn Baker won the putting and Paula Ahola the best score on the Par 3’s.

We hope the weather gods are kind to us this week to return to sunny weather for our championships. We have a great field of 30 ladies registered to play and I wish them all the very best of luck.
