• Men’s Golf Report – Week ending November 6th 2016

  • Firstly, a huge apology to winner of the Medal of Medallists for not mentioning him last week. Congratulations for Brad Grant in taking out this event.

    Tuesday was a stableford event with a field of 5 players out for a walk prior to the Cup.

    The winner was Sam Sandhu (19) with 33 points. Runner up was Roger Eddy (6) with a score of 32 points.

     

    The daylight saving Wednesday 9 hole competition continued this week with 14 golfers attending for a 2-ball Combined Stableford event,

    The winners were Jarrod Heath (15) and Domingo Diaz (11) with 41 points.

     

    Thursday saw the semi-finals of Golf Premier League.

    This resulted in Snake Pit defeating Fridge Magnets 116 points to 105 points, and X Factor defeating The Punters 113 points to 112 points on the last hole.

    We had a great field of 62 participants front the starter for the regular Stableford event, with fine AND sunny conditions. This created two prize divisions.

    The winner of Division 1 was Damian Ryan (15) with a great score of 43 points, with Tony Crawford (8) being the runner up with 41 points.

    The winner of Division 2 was evergreen Perrin Gooding (26) with 44 points from John Hayes (35) on 41 points.

    Ball run down went to 35 points on a countback.

    Nearest the on the 7th was Mitchell Brown, the 9th was Alan Parrott, the 12th was Gary Johnson and the 16th was Bill Taylor. Mark Bettany took out the pro pin on the 3rd. John Gilson picked up the Hidden Holes. Nearest the pin 2nd shot on the 18th was collected by Dan Robertson.

    The two novelty events were two’s on par 3’s with five winners and birdies on holes 1 – 6, which resulted in 10 prizes being collected. The two rabbits were Dave Wilson and Chris Durkin..

    The Gold Course was won by Peter Healy (29) with 39 points.

     

    Saturday saw a Stableford event being contested.

    Two “veterans” of the club showed us all how to play. The winner was Heinz Gogol (25) with 41 points. Runner-up was Neil Walker (25) with 40 points.

    Ball rundown went to 35 points.

    Nearest the pins were on the 7th Mark Coxall, 9th Dave Smithwick, 12th Mark Pearson and the 16th Rod Sargent. NTP 2nd shot on the 18th went to Bob Speed and the pro pin was taken out by Rod Sargent. Hidden holes went to Steve Daykin. And there were seven 3’s on the par fours.

     

    Sunday saw the fifth round of the Golf Premier League 9 hole event on the front nine, with some great scores being recorded.

    Winners for the day were Brad Grant (8) with 22 points from Paul Richardson (19) with 21 points and Alan Eustace (18) with 20 points. Ball rundown went 16 on a countback.

    Tip for this week:

    Unless your name is Tiger Woods, refrain from trying the 6 inches off the green full swing flop shot. You might kill your partner on the other side of the green.
