• Men’s Golf Report – Week ending November 27th 2016

  • Congratulations again go to Shane O’Brien, this time for his great Monthly Medal win Saturday.

    The week started with the vets travelling to Myrtleford for their monthly competition. Congratulations go to Martin Slack in taking out the “A” grade section with a brilliant 41 points.

    Tuesday was a stroke event with a small field out for a walk.

    The winner was Oliver Pearson (4) with 38 points from Brad Grant (8 with 35 points

    The daylight saving Wednesday 9 hole competition continued this week with 15 golfers attending for a Stableford event. The winner was again Dale Daly with 22 points from Rob Healy with 20 points.

     

    On Thursday we had a good field of 49 participants front the starter for the regular Stableford event, and also 5 participants in the Gold Event.

    The winner of Division 1 was Alan Eustace (16) with a great score of 41 points, with Nick Siperki (15) being the runner up with 39 points.

    The winner of Division 2 was David Kynnersley (27) with an excellent 41 points from Bob Speed (21) with 39 points.

     

     

    Ball run down went to 35 points on a countback. Nearest the on the 7th was Dave Octigan, 9th was Don Clutterbuck, 12th was Chris Anderson and the 16th was Geoff Morris. Jeremy Drew took out the pro pin on the 3rd. Alan Eustace collected the Hidden Holes. Nearest the pin 2nd shot on the 18th was collected by Perrin Gooding. The novelty event was 2’s on Par 3’s, these went to Martin Slack, Dave Octigan and Warren Shepherd x 2. The two rabbits were Graham Scott and Robin Pratt.

    The Gold Course was won by Keith Millott (31) with 39 points from Brian Curtis (26) with 34 points. Ball rundown went to 31 points

     

    Saturday saw the Monthly Medal event with a great field of 56 participants.

    The winner of Division 1 was Phil Conway (11) with a score of 66 nett from runner up Mark Pearson (12) with a nett 70.

    The winner of Division 2 and the Monthly Medal was Shane O’Brien (21) with an excellent nett 64 from runner up Dennis Sheahan (21) with a nett 66.

    Ball rundown went to nett 75 on a countback. Nearest the pins were on the 7th Alex Stephens, 9th Mark Jones, 12th Michael Aistrope and the 16th Phil Conway. Nearest the Pin 2nd shot on the 18th was Steve Daykin. The pro pin on the 3rd went to Dennis Sheahan. The JD Perks scratch went to Phil Conway with 77 gross.

     

    Sunday saw the last rounds of the GPL with Michael Davis (23) return with a great 22 points from Rob Healy (16) 21 points.

    Ball rundown went to 16 points.

    The teams qualifying for the semi-finals were not available.

     

    A quick tip for this week: When faced with a downhill stance, ensure the ball is closer to the back of your stance. This will ensure better contact, instead the “OLD” topping the ball routine.
