• Men’s Golf Report – Week ending May 28th

    Tuesday’s stroke event attracted a field of 29 players fronting the starter with visitors from Benalla, Alexandra and Yarrawonga.

    The winner was evergreen Neil Walker (25) with a fantastic nett 64 from Oliver Pearson (2) with a nett 69. Ball rundown went to nett 73. Nearest the pin went to Colin Standfield on the 7th, Frank DeVries on the 9th and Nick Siperki on the 16th. 2nd shot on the 18th went to Steve Cooksey. The Pro pin on the 3rd went to Adrian Smith. The novelty events were birdies on par threes and they went to Oliver Pearson, Nick Siperki, Adrian Smith and David Smithwick. 2nd shot on the 17th went to Chris Leaman.

     

     

     

    Thursday’s Stableford event attracted a field of 53 players fronting the starter. The Gold Event had five contestants.

    The Division 1 winner was Alan Agar (16) with a great score of 43 points from Dave Octigan (13) with 40 points. The winner of Division 2 was again Dave “Skippa” Wilson (30) with a score of 40 points from John McCombe (24) with 38 points. Ball run down went to 34 points on a countback. Nearest the on the 7th was David Smithwick, 9th was Taki Murakami, 12th was Alan Agar and the 16th Don Clutterbuck. Geoff Morris collected the pro pin on the 3rd, and the nearest the pin 2nd shot on 18 was won by Dave Octigan.

    The following events were awarded,

    2nd shot on the 10th went to Alan Parrott whilst the 2nd shot on the 17th went John McCombe. The nett two’s were won by Steve McMahon, Geoff Payne, Rob Healy, Alan Agar, Gary Johnson and Geoff Morris

    The rabbits this week are Brad Grant and Geoff Lowry.

    The Gold Course winner was Graham Smith (29) with a score of 40 points from Les Wood (33) with 39 points.

     

    Weekend Results

    Saturday saw a field of 34 players contesting the May Monthly Medal.

    The Division 1 and medal winner was Nick Siperki (14) with a good score of nett 69 from Oliver Pearson (2) with a nett 72. The winner of Division 2 was Heinz Gogol (22) with a nett 70 from Perrin Gooding (25) with a nett 75. Ball run down went to nett 77 on a countback. Nearest the on the 7th was Steve O’Sullivan, 9th was Peter Vallance, 12th was Gary Barnes and the 16th Domingo Diaz. Rod Sargent collected the pro pin on the 3rd, and the nearest the pin 2nd shot on 18 was won by Mark Jones.

    The following novelty events were awarded,

    2nd shot on the 10th went to Craig Walsh whilst the 2nd shot on the 1st went Rod Sargent. The birdies were won by Kane Blunt, Josh Green, Oliver Pearson, Craig Walsh, Brad Grant and Rod Sargent.

    The JD Perks scratch for this month went Oliver Pearson with a score of 74 gross.

     

    A quick tip for this week:

    To break 90, you need to do two things:

    1) Realize that 89 is 17 bogeys and 1 par (on a par 72 course)

    2) You WILL not three putt.
