• Men’s Golf Report – Week ending 5th May 2019

  • Great scores still rolling through the course

    Tuesday had a field of 17 players playing in a stableford event. The winner was David Smithwick (17) with a great 38 points on a countback from Brendan Egan (17). Ball rundown went to 34 points on a countback. Nearest the Pin on the third was Brad Grant and on the sixteenth was Bob Speed.

    Thursday saw the regular Stableford event with some excellent scores being returned, however owing to the forecast inclement weather only 34 players were involved.
    The winner was Jarrod Heath (13) with an excellent score of 42 points from Kerry Hartwig (23) with 41 points. Ball run down went to 36 points on a countback. Nearest the pins were Gary Johnson on the third, Jarrod Heath on the seventh and Rod Sargent on the sixteenth. Nearest the pin second shot on the eighteenth was collected by Maurie Walsh. The closest to the pin on the tenth second shot (H’cap 17+) was Sam Sandhu and closest third shot on the fourth (H’cap 0-16) was Tony Pridham.
    There were two rabbits for the day being Mark Bettany and Shaun Wade.

    Saturday’s event was a stableford competition with 32 players competing for the prizes. The winner was Aaron Knight (29) with a score of 39 points on a countback from Domingo Diaz (12) also with 39 points. Ball rundown went to 35 points on a countback. Nearest the pins were Rod Sargent on the third, Mark Bettany on the seventh, Rob Dundas on the ninth, John Johnston on the twelfth and Domingo Diaz on the sixteenth. Nearest the pin second shot on the eighteenth was Rod Sargent. The closest to pin second shot on the tenth and closest third shot on the fourth were both collected by Mark Jones. The hidden holes was shared between Steve Daykin and Ross Penny.

    The semi-finals for the Bill Reardon Matchplay were played on Sunday.
    The results were Phil Conway defeated Mark Jones 2/1, and Mic Davis defeated Jeremy Veneman 5/3.
    The final is to be played over 27 holes on Sunday 26th May at 10am

    There was an error made last week regarding the Mens handicap pennant final. The Mansfield side actually lost the match 3/2.
