• Men’s Golf Report – Week ending 4th August 2019

  • The Midweek results

    Monday saw the vets journey over to Corowa to survive nine holes of being drowned then a further nine of fine weather golf. Winners on the day were Martin Slack, third in “A” grade on a countback and Dave Smithwick in the men’s team event. It is also believed that Shane O’Brien cleaned up the bus pool!

    Tuesday had a field of twenty-four players competing in a stroke event.
    The winner was Mark Bettany (5) with a nett 71 from Bob Cullen (13) with a nett 72. The ball run down went to nett 80 on a countback. Nearest the pin on the third was Taki Murakami and on the sixteenth was Jarrod Heath. The hidden holes winner was Mark Bettany

    Thursday’s event saw the regular Stableford event being conducted with forty-six players in the competition. The winner of Division One was Tony Pridham (10) with 42 points from Blair St Anne (4) with 39 points (1 over the card!) The winner of Division Two was Bob Speed (25) with 41 points from Dave Haslam (28) with 37 points on a countback. Ball run down went 33 points on a countback. Nearest the pins were Kerry Hartwig on the third, Josh Foots on the seventh, Tony Pridham on the ninth, Tony Crawford on the twelfth and Charlie Heath on the sixteenth. Nearest the pin second shot on the eighteenth was collected by Peter Vallance and closest to the pin second shot on the tenth was Tony Crawford. The best score on the par threes was shared by Maurie Walsh and Phil Conway.
    The Gold event was won by Geoff Lowry (26) with 28 points.
    There were two rabbits for the day, being Nick Jones and Geoff Brown.

    The Weekend results

    Saturday’s event was a stroke round along with a qualifying round for the JN Pickering, with twenty-eight competitors vying for the spoils it was an entertaining days golf.
    The winner was Paul Cougle (6) with a nett 70 from Phil Conway (13) with a nett 70 on a countback.
    Line balls went down to nett 77 on a countback.
    Nearest the pin on the third was Brad Grant, on the ninth was Peter Vallance and on the sixteenth was Fred Rogers. The nearest the pin second shot on the seventeenth and winner of the Hidden holes was Paul Cougle.
