Men’s Golf Report – Week ending 26th August 2018

Congratulations this week go to Mark Bettany for his win in the August Monthly Medal.

 

Tuesday’s event saw a small field of 14 players out enjoying some winter weather for a stableford event.

The winner was Bob Cullen (13) with 37 points from Dave Octigan (13) with 35 points.

Ball rundown went to 30 points on a countback. Owing to the small filed there were no novelty prizes.

 

 

 

 

Thursday’s event saw a field of 40 golfers fronting the starter for the regular Stableford event with some great scores being returned. There were two players competing in the gold event.

The winner of Division One was Shaun Wade (8) with a fantastic score of 43 points (one over par) from Rob Healy (18) with 37 points.

Ball run down went 33 points on a countback. Nearest the pins were Don Clutterbuck on the third, Dave Octigan on the seventh, Martin Slack on the ninth, on the twelfth and on the sixteenth was Brad Grant. Best score on holes 7-12 was shared between Martin Slack and Perrin Gooding, whilst the best score on par threes went to Peter Hunt.

The rabbits were Bob Cullen and Alan Parrott.

The Gold event saw Geoff Lowry (30) keep on his winning ways with 40 points.

 

Saturday’s medal event sponsored by the Mansfield Golf Club saw a field of 39 players contesting the August medal on an unusually warm winter’s day.

The winner and August Medallist was Mark Bettany (4) with a score of nett 70 on a countback from Geoff Morris (20) also with a nett 70

Nearest the pin on the third was Peter Vallance, on the seventh was Shaun Wade, on the ninth was Adam Holt, the twelfth was collected by Mark Bettany and on the sixteenth was Mark Pearson. Shaun Wade won the NTP second shot on the eighteenth, whilst Mark Pearson picked up the NTP second shot on the seventeenth, and Bill Parsons on the 10th.  Best score on the Par 4’s went to Laurie Harcus and mark Pearson.

mark Bettany collected the JD Perks with a scratch score of 74.

There was a draw for “Beat the Pro” on the 9th, with was won by Laurie Harcus who collected a year of free golf lessons. Well done Laurie.
