• Men’s Golf Report – Week ending 25th August 2019

  • The Midweek results

    Tuesday with rather cold weather saw a small field of six players competing in a stableford event. The winner was Peter Baddeley (16) with 38 points from Brad Grant (8) with 30 points.

    Thursday’s event saw the regular Stableford event being conducted with forty-three players in the competition and four competitors in the Gold event.
    The winner of Division One was Peter Vallance (7) with 37 points on a countback from Paul Cougle (6) also with 37 points. The winner of Division Two was Nathan Pelling (27) with 36 points form Shane O’Brien (19) with 35 points. Ball run down went 32 points on a countback. Nearest the pins were Michael Harrison on the third, Mark Pearson on the seventh, Nathan Pelling on the ninth Phil Conway on the twelfth and Peter Baddeley on the sixteenth. The hidden holes winner was Martin Slack. The closest seconds shots were Paul Cougle on the tenth and Bob Cullen on the eighteenth.
    The Gold event was won by Graham Smith (29) with 37 points.
    The rabbits were Charlie Heath and Gary Johnson.

    The Weekend results

    Saturday’s event was a par round with twenty-seven players competing. The winner was Kane Blunt (9) with an excellent plus 5 from Tony Pridham (9) with plus 3.
    Line balls went down to minus three on a countback. Nearest the pin on the third was Tony Pridham, on the seventh was Shaun Wade, on the ninth and twelfth was Peter Vallance and on the sixteenth was Fred Rogers. The nearest the pin second shots were, Mic Davis on the tenth and Mark Bettany on the eighteenth.

    Sunday saw the running of this year’s Golf Australia Play 9 event.
    It is a stableford competition held over nine holes.
    The two winners to represent Mansfield in the district final at Yarrawonga on Sunday September 15 are Brendan Egan and Bill Parsons, both with 19 points. Congratulations to both players. Third place and reserve is Dion Sheahan with 18 points.
